Report: Man broke in, choked woman

A Rome man is charged with a pair of felonies after an incident at a home on Redmond Circle on Aug. 15.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jonathan Adam Riddle, 33, of 100 Calhoun Ave., is accused of forcibly entering a woman’s apartment in the 1300 block of Redmond Circle on the evening of Aug. 15 where he grabbed a woman by the throat and began choking her. The victim still had visible choke marks around her throat when police got to the scene.

Riddle then shoved another person aside during the altercatio­n before he fled the home that evening.

Riddle is charged with felony aggravated assault, felony burglary and misdemeano­rs for simple assault, battery and simple battery.

Riddle was being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond Thursday night.

Man charged with meth possession

A Floyd County man is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine after police were called to his residence on Bollen Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Douglas Bryan Henderson, 50, of 16 Bollen Drive, was charged with possession of methamphet­amine and a misdemeano­r for possession of a drug-related object after a Floyd County officer recovered a glass pipe with meth residue at Henderson’s home around 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

Henderson was being held in the Floyd County Jail on a $3,500 bond Thursday night.

Report: Woman hit officer with her fists

A Rome woman was being held in the Floyd County Jail pending a $3,500 bond Thursday night after her arrest for felony obstructio­n of police. Scott is accused of using her fists to beat an officer in the chest at the intersecti­on of Broad Street and Sixth Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Rhonda Melissa Scott, 52, listed as homeless, was walking in the middle of the road impeding the flow of traffic around 9 p.m. Wednesday night. When police stopped her and took her out of the road, she started to beat an officer in the chest with her closed fists.

Scott was also charged with misdemeano­rs for simple battery of police and impeding the flow of traffic.
