Drug bust nets 6 arrests on synthetic pot charges

Several Rome residents were in jail without bond Wednesday night on felony drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Officers from the Rome Police Department arrested six individual­s at 412 E. First Ave. just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, charging all with felony possession of methamphet­amine, possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of synthetic marijuana.

Those arrested were Haeley Marie Waters, 21, 0f 29 Wynnie Road; Jimmy Gregory Dennis Jr., 39, of 206 Stonewall Street; Tabitha Nicole Downs, 26, of 208 Charlton Street; Jayquane Marquis Harris, 24, 216 North Ave.; Amar Diablo Bodrick, 37, and Joshua Ryan Crook, 32, both of 412 E. First St.

Additional­ly, Waters, Dennis, Downs, Harris and Crook are charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug-related objects.

Cedar Avenue building burglarize­d

Officers responded to the report of a burglary Cedar Avenue Tuesday afternoon. According to Rome Police Department reports:

Renters of a building at 307 Cedar Avenue reported that a chain link fence surroundin­g the property had been cut and someone made entry to a building on the property.

Reported stolen were 20 metal burn barrels, a DeWalt sander, a hardwood floor hammer, a Husqvarna weed eater and chainsaw as well as two Ridgid drills.

Car reported stolen from Lyons Drive

A Rome man called police Tuesday to report someone had stolen his car.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

A victim told officers his 1997 silver BMW 528i, valued at $6,800, had been parked outside his apartment on Lyons Drive, but was gone when he woke up Sunday.

The victim stated he had been receiving calls of a woman driving his car around Maple Avenue, he didn’t know who she is. Blake Silvers, staff writer

Report: Vandals hit Lindale UMC again

Floyd County police are investigat­ing a series of break-ins at Lindale United Methodist Church on Maple Road.

Vandals hit the church for the third time in less than four weeks sometime between the end of church service Sunday evening and 11 a.m. Tuesday, when a contractor discovered the damage.

The basement door was forced open and both the church office and pastor’s office were damaged.

It was unclear if anything was stolen this time, but thieves got away with two flat screen television­s the first time.

In all three break-ins, there was damage to the offices and doors.
