Operation Christmas Child,a project of Samaritan’s Purse has three new drop-off locations in Floyd County. They are Journey Church, 15 Redmond Court, Northside Church, 75 N. Floyd Park Road and Silver Creek United Methodist Church, 36 Reeceburg Road, Silver Creek. Donations can be dropped off from Monday through Nov. 19.

Proceeds benefit the library. American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 will sponsor their annual Veterans

Day observance on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Known Soldier Plaza, Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The Model High School Band will provide entertainm­ent and patriotic music. A hamburger & hot dog lunch will be served afterward at the Post 5 home, 5 Shorter Ave. The post will not have a regular meeting for November. The Executive Board will meet Monday.
