Garden Lakes man facing 18 felony firearms charges

A Garden Lakes man is facing felony drug and gun charges after deputies came to his home to serve warrants on another person. According to Floyd County Jail records: John Bartney Furr, 64, of 2611 Lakeview Drive, is charged with 18 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of possession of methamphet­amine, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and the misdemeano­r possession of a drug-related object.

Deputies who came to Furr’s home with warrants early Thursday saw a glass pipe with meth residue sitting on a coffee table and six guns lying around in plain sight. They found a plastic bag of meth in his pocket when he was arrested. Hydrocodon­e and more meth was found in a closet and another 12 guns were turned up in a search of the residence.

Furr was released from jail on bond Thursday.

Lindale woman accused of hitting man with bat

A Lindale woman accused of attacking a man with a bat was in jail without bond Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Carrie Allen Hunter, 37, of 8A Lakeview Drive in Lindale, is charged with felony aggravated assault and criminal trespass in the incident that happened Nov. 3 at a location on Radio Springs Road.

Hunter was arrested Wednesday on warrants contending she hit the man with a bat and damaged property belonging to two people.

Police: Man had cocaine on Glover Street

A Rome man facing felony drug charges was in jail Thursday with his bond set at $5,700.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Cody Lynn Redden, 25, of 703 S. Broad St., Apt. 7, is accused of having two Lorazepam pills and “a small amount” of cocaine when he was stopped just before 10 p.m. on Glover Street at Pennington Avenue.

Redden is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and the misdemeano­r drugs not kept in the original container.
