Gar­den Lakes man fac­ing 18 felony firearms charges

A Gar­den Lakes man is fac­ing felony drug and gun charges af­ter deputies came to his home to serve war­rants on an­other per­son. Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records: John Bart­ney Furr, 64, of 2611 Lake­view Drive, is charged with 18 counts of pos­ses­sion of a firearm by a con­victed felon, three counts of pos­ses­sion of metham­phetamine, pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule II con­trolled sub­stance and the mis­de­meanor pos­ses­sion of a drug-re­lated ob­ject.

Deputies who came to Furr’s home with war­rants early Thurs­day saw a glass pipe with meth residue sit­ting on a cof­fee ta­ble and six guns ly­ing around in plain sight. They found a plas­tic bag of meth in his pocket when he was ar­rested. Hy­drocodone and more meth was found in a closet and an­other 12 guns were turned up in a search of the res­i­dence.

Furr was re­leased from jail on bond Thurs­day.

Lin­dale woman ac­cused of hit­ting man with bat

A Lin­dale woman ac­cused of at­tack­ing a man with a bat was in jail with­out bond Thurs­day.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records:

Car­rie Allen Hunter, 37, of 8A Lake­view Drive in Lin­dale, is charged with felony ag­gra­vated as­sault and crim­i­nal tres­pass in the in­ci­dent that hap­pened Nov. 3 at a lo­ca­tion on Ra­dio Springs Road.

Hunter was ar­rested Wed­nes­day on war­rants con­tend­ing she hit the man with a bat and dam­aged prop­erty be­long­ing to two peo­ple.

Po­lice: Man had co­caine on Glover Street

A Rome man fac­ing felony drug charges was in jail Thurs­day with his bond set at $5,700.

Ac­cord­ing to Floyd County Jail records:

Cody Lynn Red­den, 25, of 703 S. Broad St., Apt. 7, is ac­cused of hav­ing two Lo­razepam pills and “a small amount” of co­caine when he was stopped just be­fore 10 p.m. on Glover Street at Pen­ning­ton Av­enue.

Red­den is charged with pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule II con­trolled sub­stance, pos­ses­sion of a Sched­ule IV con­trolled sub­stance and the mis­de­meanor drugs not kept in the orig­i­nal con­tainer.

Po­lice re­spond­ing to a re­port of shots fired near Edge­wood Av­enue at Dell­wood Drive stopped a white Dodge Charger fit­ting the de­scrip­tion of a ve­hi­cle that left the scene with five sus­pects. One per­son had al­ready been dropped off, ac­cord­ing to re­ports, but the 19-year-old driver was ar­rested and charged with mis­de­meanor car­ry­ing a con­cealed weapon with­out a per­mit. He was re­leased on bond Thurs­day. No one was in­jured.
