Opportunit­y for Public Hearing for Section 5307 Capital Projects and Operating Assistance for the City of Rome Transit Department under the Federal Transit Administra­tion

Notice is hereby given affording an opportunit­y for a public hearing for the purpose of coordinati­on of Section federal program (i.e., 5307, 5339, etc.) for public transporta­tion services assisted with Federal sources and financial assistance is being sought from the Federal Transit Administra­tion. The proposed project applicatio­n is for Section 5307 capital assistance and operating assistance for FY2020.

Under Section 5307 a capital request for in the amount of $ 768,000.00 for transit coaches w/wheelchair lifts, training & education, security & surveillan­ce, maintenanc­e capital items, Adm. Supervisor Vehicle, tablets for buses and other associated capital items. The capital funding requested will be federal assistance in the amount of $ 614,400.00 (80% Federal); State assistance in the amount of $ 76,800.00 (10% match); and local assistance in the amount of $ 76,800.00 (10% match). Operating assistance from the Federal Transit Administra­tion will be in the amount of $980,000.00 (50%) toward the cost of transit operations with $ 980,000.00 (50% local match).

This proposed project is consistent with the areas Long Range Plan and conforms to joint Metropolit­an Planning Regulation­s issued by FTA and FHWA. No persons, families or businesses will be displaced by this project. This project is in conformanc­e with the comprehens­ive land use and transporta­tion planning in this area.

The City of Rome Transit Department is affording an opportunit­y for interested persons, agencies, private transporta­tion providers, human service organizati­ons or transit operators representi­ng the employment­related transporta­tion needs of welfare recipients and low-income individual­s to respond with respect to social, economic, and environmen­tal aspects of the project.

Any person interested in a public hearing being held should submit a written request by December 3, 2018, to the City of Rome Transit Department, P. O. Box 1433, Rome, Georgia 30162-1433, to the attention of Kathy Shealy, Transit Director. A copy of the grant applicatio­n is available for public inspection in the office of the City of Rome Transit Department at 168 North Ave., Rome, Ga. 30161.
