Police: Neighbor stole from vehicles, garage
A Floyd County man accused of entering cars on the street where he lives was in jail without bond Wednesday night on felony charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Kevin O’Brian Weaver, 28, of 51 East Drive, was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with four counts of entering autos with intent to commit a theft, second-degree burglary, possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances and misdemeanor failure to keep drugs in the original container.
Weaver entered several cars on East Drive, then went across the street and entered a garage. A welding machine was found about 50 yards from the garage when he was arrested. He also had a pill bottle containing what he told police was one alprazolam pill and one hydrocodone pill. Diane Wagner, staff writer
Report: Rome man struck 4-year-old in face
A Rome man accused of striking a child was released from jail Wednesday on bond.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Taylor Steven Duke, 29, of 4 Skyline Drive, struck his 4-yearold son in the face “leaving visible marks.”
Duke is charged with felony firstdegree cruelty to children and misdemeanor simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
911 call leads to arrest; drugs found in shoes
A woman’s call to 911 about a suspicious man led to a drug arrest early Wednesday morning.
According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports:
Rodney Jogno Patio, 29, of 14 Joe Lewis Blvd., was arrested at 203 Highway 411 East after police found drugs in his shoes.
Police had been responding to a 911 call from a woman who had been solicited for a ride by a suspicious male at the nearby Walmart.
Patio, who had an active warrant, is also charged with felony possession of synthetic marijuana and a probation violation, as well as misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
He was being held without bond Wednesday night.
Report: Business storage building burglarized
Several items were reported stolen from a business on Shorter Avenue Tuesday.
According to Rome Police Department reports:
The owner of Perfect Home, 2013 Shorter Ave., reported that she’d discovered a storage building door had been kicked in and a motion light had been pulled off and most of the furniture that had been inside was gone.
Three rugs, two tables, three chandeliers, three house mirrors and several totes of Christmas decorations were taken. The total value of the items taken was estimated at just over $5,900.
Pair of Second Avenue businesses damaged
A pair of businesses along Second Avenue reported property damage Tuesday.
According to Rome Police Department reports:
An employee at the Salvation Army donation center, 308 E. Second Ave., reported Tuesday morning that a front window in the facility had a hole in it.
Nearby, an employee at Owens Hardware, 116 E. Second Ave., later reported that a front window of the business was broken and he’d found a rock directly outside on the ground.
