Rome man accused of firing rifle at another person

A Rome man arrested on several charges stemming from a shots fired call was in jail Monday night without bond.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports:

Stephon Dekota Chambers, 51, of 100 B E. 9th Street, was arrested just before 7 p.m. Sunday after firing a .22 caliber rifle at a victim.

Chambers fired one shot out the front door of his apartment at a victim 15 to 20 feet away on the sidewalk after a verbal argument. Chambers was taken into custody without incident and a warranted search of his residence yielded marijuana in the living room.

Chambers is charged with felonies aggravated assault and possession of methamphet­amine. He is also charged with misdemeano­rs reckless conduct, pointing a firearm at another and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Suspicious person call leads to arrest of Kingston woman

A Kingston woman arrested on a warrant after police responded to a call about a possible burglary in progress was in jail without bond Monday night.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports:

Alisha Suzanne McCullough, 43, of 4411 Kingston Highway, was arrested at the Central Plaza shopping center Sunday by police investigat­ing a possible burglary on Coral Avenue.

A man saw McCullough approachin­g a home asking a neighbor if the property needed to be cleaned. During the questionin­g of McCullough, it was discovered that she had an active warrant out of Alabama.

McCullough is charged with felony fugitive from justice.

Report: Rome woman charged with burglary, drug possession

A Rome woman was in jail without bond Monday, charged with several felonies related to a burglary.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jenny Sue Burns, 34, of 8 Butler Street, entered a vehicle on Harper Avenue and stole a victim’s house keys and then entered the victim’s residence. Burns then took the keys to both vehicles at the residence.

Burns was also found with marijuana and “grinder” past the guard line of the jail.

Burns is charged with felonies entering an automobile, first degree burglary and crossing a guard line. She is also charged with misdemeano­rs possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a drug related object. Blake Silvers, staff writer

2 charged as felons with firearms

Two Rome men were in jail without bond Monday after police allegedly found them carrying guns illegally.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Antonio Demarcus Palmer Jr., 28, of 604 W. 10th At., and James Alvin Cotton, 24, of 1301 Cedar Ave., are each facing a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Palmer had a Smith & Wesson revolver and Cotton had a loaded .38 handgun when police stopped them early Monday on West Fifth Street at Second Avenue.

Cotton also was charged with a felony parole violation. Diane Wagner, staff writer
