Reports: Man had 5 types of drugs
A Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officer busted a Chattooga County man with at least five different types of drugs in western Floyd County.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Brian Ranard Wiggins, 33, of 6041 Highway 114, Lyerly, was arrested Friday night by Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force personnel on Ga. 100. When he was stopped by officers, a large quantity of meth was found in his vehicle along with Xanax, MDMA and marijuana. Police claim he tried to throw away a quantity of suspected heroin.
Charges against Wiggins include abandonment of dangerous drugs, possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, three counts of trafficking illegal drugs, and possession of meth and possession of meth with the intent to distribute and a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.
Wiggins is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond.
Report: Police find pills, marijuana
A Rome man stopped downtown for a traffic violation faces felony drug charges after police recovered marijuana and two different types of pills from his vehicle.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Clyde Edward Moore III, 32, of 249 Cave Spring St., was arrested near the intersection of Second Avenue and Fourth Street for driving on an expired tag. Police then found two bags of marijuana and bags containing suspected hydrocodone and oxycodone.
He was ultimately charged with felony possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, purchase, sale or distribution of marijuana and a felony probation violation
He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, driving with an expired tag and having drugs not in an original container.
Bond for Moore was set at $16,700.
Police: Man DUI mushrooms, alcohol
Police arrested a Floyd County man after finding a jar of mushrooms once he was pulled over on a traffic violation.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Alexander Phillip Moon, 30, of 331 Mathis Road, was arrested by Floyd County police on Friday night near the intersection of Kingston Highway and Wildflower Road.
He was charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the jar of mushrooms, driving under the influence of multiple substances, an open container violation, failing to maintain a lane and a parole violation.
Moon is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond.
Convicted felon arrested with firearm
A search of a man’s home has resulted in an arrest after police found a gun hidden in a laundry basket.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jesse Lee Mullins, 42, of 108 Hosea St., was arrested by Rome police Friday and charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He is being held in the Floyd County Jail pending a $3,500 bond.
1 flown to Erlanger after Friday wreck
Floyd County police said a Calhoun teenager, Madison Wiseman, 19, was transported by helicopter to Erlanger Hospital in Tennessee from the scene of a one-vehicle wreck on Old Dalton Road on Friday night.
According to Floyd County police:
A Ford F-150 driven by William James Hobberchalk, 18, of Calhoun, was southbound on Old Dalton Road when the driver said a deer ran across the road in front of him. Hobberchalk swerved to avoid the deer, then overcorrected and went down an embankment into trees where it rolled over onto its side.
Hobberchalk was not seriously hurt however Wiseman was trapped inside the wreckage with serious injuries.
A landing zone was set up in the parking lot of the Dollar General at the intersection of Ga. 156 and Old Dalton and once the young woman was extricated from the truck, she was rushed to the waiting chopper.
Floyd County police Sgt. Dustin Wade said no charges would be filed against Hobberchalk.
