Broiler/Fryer: National Broiler Market at-a-Glance For July 3:
Whole broiler/fryer prices are steady to weak with 3-pound-and-up sizes the weakest. Offerings are light to moderate. Retail demand is light at best where holiday shopping applies. Food service demand is light to moderate. Trucks are short due to fruit deliveries. Processing schedules are short this week with plants taking off for the holiday. Most are making up over the weekend with Saturday kills planned. Floor stocks are adequate for current needs. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts structure, jumbo wings are steady and smaller wings are steady to weak. Dark meat is steady to instances firm, and white items are steady at best. Supplies of dark meat items are moving well; wings are light to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate at mostly desirable weights.
