Cedartown man charged with aggravated assault

A Cedartown man was arrested Sunday following an incident in June where he reportedly opened fire at a house on Booger Hollow Road.

According to Floyd county jail reports:

Lowell Arnold Curtis Jr., 46, 451 Wissahicke­n Ave., fired six or seven rounds at an occupied house as he was driving by.

Curtis is charged with felony aggravated assault, another three misdemeano­r counts of aggravated assault and misdemeano­r reckless conduct. He remained in jail Monday evening without bond.

Woman charged with striking woman holding a baby

A Rome woman was arrested Sunday night after she reportedly struck a family member causing them to drop the baby they were holding.

According to Floyd county jail reports:

Kataja Donyet Mallett, 23, 705 Trove Drive, hit a female victim in the face causing her to drop her 5-month-old baby. The baby received a laceration to the nose and toe.

Mallett is charged with felony first degree cruelty to children, misdemeano­r battery and reckless conduct. She remained in jail Monday evening on a $5,700 bond.

Report: man swung at officers during arrest

A Cave Spring man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he reportedly hit someone at his listed address.

According to Floyd county jail reports:

Joshua Daniel-joseph Piercy, 23, of 21 Cedartown Street, had to be tackled to the ground after he tried to swing at arresting officers.

Piercy is charged with felony obstructio­n of law enforcemen­t, and misdemeano­r simple battery. He remained in jail Monday evening without bond.

Two charged with being a fugitive from justice

A pair were arrested at 4744 Cedartown Highway Monday when it was discovered they had warrants out for them in other states.

According to Floyd county jail reports:

Nicholas Justin Ashley, 28, of 320 Biddy Road, was found with outstandin­g warrants from Cherokee County Alabama along with a car that had been reported stolen. Ashley is charged with felony theft by receiving and fugitive from justice.

Robin Catherine Reed, 63, of 4744 Cedartown Highway, Lindale, had warrants from Florida. Reed is charged with felony fugitive from justice.

Report: pair had weapon with serial number filed off

A Rome man and woman were arrested on Webster Street early Monday morning after they were reportedly found with a shotgun

without a serial number.

According to Floyd county jail reports:

Christophe­r Jadon Haywood, 18, of 102 Webster Street, and Kaylee Marie Huff, 19, 422 Shorter Ave., both were in possession of a shotgun with the serial number removed.

Both Haywood and Huff remained in jail Monday evening, each without bond.
