Rome City Auditorium, 601 Broad St., is hosting a summer movie series in July and August. Top Gun will show Friday at 7 p.m.; Finding Nemo will show Aug. 4 at 1 and 4:30 p.m.; Remember the Titans will show Aug. 11 at 1 and 4:30 p.m.; Steel Magnolias will show Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.; and Tombstone will show Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. Cash and cards accepted. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to showtime. Audiences are encouraged to dress in theme for each movie. Connecting Families will co-host a back-to-school lock in at Glorious New Jerusalem, 537 W. 12th St., on Friday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will include free food and school supplies and will feature a motivational speaker, music and dance. For more information call 770796-0167 or 770-796-0168.
The Northwest Georgia Center for Independent Living will host a planning session for their activities and outreach for the years 2020 through 2022 on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Goodwill Career Center, 154 Hicks Drive. The 34th annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2-Mile Health Walk will be held Aug. 17 at 8 a.m.
Registration is now open at tillmanclocktowerrace.org and runsignup.com. Proceeds benefit The Exchange Club Family Resource Center. Registration is $25 for 5K and $20 for 2-mile before July 27, $30 for 5K and $25 for 2-mile July 28 to Aug. 8. Teams of 10 or more receive a discount of $3 per person. Race day registration is open from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at $35 for 5K and $30 for the 2-mile.
The Harbin Clinic Gallery at Makervillage will host “A Painted Life” featuring the works of local folk artist Charles Wimpee from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Aug. 24.
