The Rome chapter of The Compassion­ate Friends will meet at Redmond Regional Medical Center, 501 Redmond Road, in the Lower Level, Classroom B, on Thursday at 7 p.m. Use the elevator at the Outpatient entrance to LL. Tickets for the 2019 Corky Kell Classic between the Rome Wolves and the Marietta Blue Devils will be on sale Friday during the Rome Wolves’ Soap game at Barron Stadium, 300 W. Third St. Tickets will also be available at the stadium Aug. 13 through Aug. 16 from noon to 2 p.m. and Aug. 19 through Aug. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 each in advance and $17 on game day. Single Friends will host a cakewalk and dance with DJ Ken Hughes on Friday at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Couples welcome. Admission is $7 each.

Friends of Chieftains will host their annual Chieftains Low Country Boil and Barbecue on Friday at the Palladium, 69 Church St., Coosa Valley Fairground­s. The event is sponsored by Sweet P’s at the Palladium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with food service at 7:30 p.m. The Barbaric Yawps will perform during dinner and there will be a raffle silent auction. Tickets are $80 for individual­s with tables for 8 available at $640. Portions of each event ticket sale are tax-deductible. All

The 34th annual Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2-Mile Health Walk will be held Aug. 17 at 8 a.m. Registrati­on is now open at tillmanclo­cktowerrac­e.org and runsignup.com. Proceeds benefit The Exchange Club Family Resource Center. Registrati­on is $30 for 5K and $25 for 2-mile through Friday. Teams of 10 or more receive a discount of $3 per person. Race day registrati­on will be open from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at $35 for 5K Road Race and $30 for the 2-mile Health Walk.

Georgia Legal Services Program assistance is available in the Judicial Courthouse, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 114, this Friday from 9 a.m. to noon to assist low-income clients in a range of civil matters including TPOS, public benefits, housing, consumer issues, school suspension­s and unemployme­nt. The Harbin Clinic Gallery at Makervilla­ge will host “A Painted Life” featuring the works of local folk artist Charles Wimpee from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Aug. 24.

The Friends of the Library Silent Auction is now open through Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. at the Romefloyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. Books on auction include local history, notable people and organizati­ons, autographe­d books by local and other Southern authors and Rome/floyd County cookbooks. The Rome Georgia’s Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through August at 402 Civic Center Drive.

Chieftains Museum, 501 Riverside Parkway, will host the new traveling exhibit “‘It is impossible to destroy men with more respect for the laws of humanity’: Court Cases of Cherokee Removal in Georgia” through Sept. 6. The exhibit explores the legal arguments for and against the removal of the Cherokee in Georgia. Museum admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors age 62 and older and $2 for students.
