‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ animator Richard Williams has died

LONDON (AP) — Richard Williams, a Canadian-British animator whose work on the bouncing cartoon bunny in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” helped blur the boundaries between the animated world and our own, has died. He was 86 years old.

Mr. Lewis Gordon Gosa, age 80, of Rome passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Gosa was born in Alabama on February 7, 1939, son of the late William Bryant Gosa and the late Annie Lois Schwitguit­h. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Mr. Gosa was head of special projects at Berry College and had a family business hanging wall coverings. He was a devoted RXWGRRUVPD­Q KXQWLQJ ¿VKing and camping with his wife and grandchild­ren. He also loved adventures, travel and his beloved pets, Harley and Poncho. Lewis was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride all over the country. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Simpson, Faye Mashburn, and Carolyn Hood, and by a brother, Johnny Hood.

Survivors include his wife, Myrl Johnson Gosa, to whom he married on June 10, 1982; ¿YH FKLOGUHQ %REE\ *RVD Rome, Jeff Gosa, Attalla, AL, Renee Gosa, Boaz, AL, Sheila Plante (Frances), Plainville, KS, Melanie Johnson (Jeff), Vidalia, GA; thirteen grandchild­ren, Katie Humphrey (Thomas), Valdosta, GA, Julianna Greenawalt (Jason), Lindale, Weston Gosa (Amy), Rome, Christophe­r Gosa (Melissa), Sardis City, AL, Tyler Smith (Chasity), Sardis City, AL, Maegan Smith, Sardis City, AL, Brandon Gosa, Kansas City, KS, Shasta Gast (Matt), Meadow, GA, Josh Plante, Hayes, KS, Mary Jo Plante, Plainville, KS, Dusty Plante (Emily), Vidalia, GA, Holden Plante (Amber), Mt. Vernon, GA, and Danielle Plante, Vidalia, GA; 23 great-grandchild­ren; two sisters, Sylvia Pevahause, Decatur, AL, and Sandi Reece, Chattanoog­a, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019, at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. In accordance with Mr. Gosa’s wishes, he will be cremated following services.

The family will receive friends on Monday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

PARKER, Deborah Ann DeLano

Mrs. Deborah Ann DeLano Parker, age 64, of Rome passed away peacefully on Friday August 16, 2019 in Floyd Medical Center.

Deborah was born June 18, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee, a daughter of William “Bill” DeLano, and the late Mary Van Blake DeLano. She was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist and attended Lakeview Baptist Church until her health declined. Deborah was a member of the Rome Doll Club and a former Girls in Action leader at her church. Deborah was employed by Floyd Home Health Agency as a Registered Nurse. She touched many people in her nursing career, both patients and other profession­als. She graduated from Floyd College in Rome and Converse College in Chattanoog­a, TN. She also attended Carson-Newman College.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Van Blake DeLano and a brother Billy DeLano.

Deborah fought a thirty year battle with rheumatoid arthritis and will long be remembered for her brave and positive attitude she exhibited throughout her life. She often said that she believed that God used her and her disease to witness to those she interacted with in her long journey.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Charles Trenton Parker, Jr. two sons and daughter in laws,Trenton Parker( Heather) Rome, Travis Parker( Donna) Gloucheste­r, VA; granddaugh­ter, Cadence Parker, sister Elaine DeLano Turner, Rome; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Turner, Rome; Lindsey Corpening (Reggie) Crystal River, FL; Jordan Parker, Michael Parker, Nicole Parker, all of Rome; two favorite aunts, Marchia Sims, Ward AK; Tera Halbert, Palestine, Ak. also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday August 19, 2019 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Billy Rabern, and Dr. Jimmy Gentry, RI¿FLDWLQJ ,QWHUPHQW ZLOO follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
