Broiler/Fryer: National Broiler Market at-a-Glance

For Jan. 30:

Whole broiler/fryer prices are trending steady to weak for most sizes. Offerings are light to moderate in the Central region, moderate to heavy in all other regions with three pound and larger sizes being slightly more available. Retail and food service demand is light to moderate for current needs. Very few industry members remain in Atlanta as the IPPE wraps up the final day. Floor stocks are balanced. Market activity is light to moderate. In the parts structure, the market tone for tenders and wings are steady to firm, steady to weak on boneless skinless breast and dark meat items. Offerings of tenders and wings continue to move seasonally well as the Super Bowl approaches and sports bars prepare for the event. The remaining breast cuts and dark meat items range moderate to heavy for current trade needs. Market activity is slow to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate. Weights are mixed, but noted as mostly desirable.
