Polk man facing murder charge following dispute at home

A Polk County man is facing a murder charge after a man he shot during a dispute at his home died of his injuries.

According to Rockmart Police

ROCKMART —

Two Rome residents face charges of marijuana and cocaine distributi­on after police stopped them in a vehicle with a suspended registrati­on.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Marvin Ladell Blackburn Jr., 22, was being held without bond Monday night. He and Ebony Tiara Carter, 28, were in a vehicle stopped by Rome police near the intersecti­on of Broad and East First streets.

Marshall Crews, 64, of 505 E. Elm St. in Rockmart, admitted to the Friday afternoon shooting when he went outside and flagged down a Polk County sheriff’s deputy shortly after the incident.

Three people remained in jail without bond Monday after they were charged with felony first-degree cruelty to children connected to the same case.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Lauren Faith Amos, 22, and Tyler Mason Hicks, 26, both of Cave Spring, and Edward Beachum Amos, 27, of Rome, were arrested Saturday on warrants claiming they caused a toddler physical and mental pain between November 2019 and Saturday.

Warrants state Lauren Amos forced the child to remain seated on a potty or be hit by others. Edward Amos lesser charges, which were upgraded to murder after Quenten Eutsey, 30, from the Atlanta area, died.

Eutsey, who was shot twice in the stomach, had been airlifted for treatment at Atlanta Medical Center. After undergoing surgery

A Rome man and woman accused of having drugs and a stolen gun remained in jail Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Allen Dewayne Boatner, 39, and Kerricka Tremer Martin, 24, were at Maple and emergency lifesaving measures he was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. Saturday, according to Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier.

The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for forensic exams.
