Man accused of purchasing 2020 Cadillac with bogus check
A Rome man accused of using a bogus check to purchase a $47,283 automobile last month has been arrested on a couple of felony charges.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Frederick Darrell Spencer, 57, was taken into custody Sunday near the intersection of Broad Street and Second Avenue on warrants that were taken out by the Riverside Auto Group.
Spencer allegedly purchased a 2020 Cadillac CT 5 on May 11 using a check that had been issued by Synovus Bank. The bank later contacted the dealership to report they had no record of the account the check was drawn on.
Spencer is charged with felony third degree forgery and theft by taking a motor vehicle.
Wreck leads to drug charges against Rome

A woman driving a car that crossed several lanes of traffic on Shorter Avenue and slammed into a brick wall faces multiple charges, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Courtney Diane Franks, 39, was arrested Sunday near the intersection of Shorter Avenue and Shorter Circle following the wreck around 4:45 p.m. A quantity of synthetic marijuana was found in the center console of the vehicle.
Franks is charged with felony possession of a synthetic cannabinoid substance and misdemeanor hit and run, driving under the influence of drugs, an improper lane change and failure to report an wreck with injury

A Rome man is accused of choking another person and shoving them to the ground during an altercation at his home north of Rome, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
James David Cochran Jr., 36, was arrested at his residence by Floyd County police on Sunday around 8:30 p.m. and charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple battery.
Woman faces drug charges after traffic stop in Cave Spring
A Polk County woman faces a felony drug charge after a traffic stop for a bad tail light in Cave Spring, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Mary Cile Vance, 54, of Cedartown, was stopped in Cave Spring early Monday morning for a bad tail light. The Cave Spring officer determined the vehicle registration had been suspended and a search of the vehicle turned up a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Vance is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and the misdemeanors possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended or revoked registration and operating an unsafe vehicle

Man arrested after domestic altercation
A Rome man was taken into custody at his home Monday after putting holes in the wall and damaging an air conditioning unit during an incident overnight.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Tyler Norton Timbrook, 30, is accused of putting multiple holes in a wall, damaging a toilet seat and causing the air conditioning unit to malfunction as wells striking the AC unit with a chair. He is also accused of using a piece of the broken chair to strike a woman at the home.
Timbrook is charged with felony criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor for simple battery.

Report: Failure to use turn signal leads to
drug arrests
A Cave Spring couple was taken to jail after a traffic stop led to the discovery of several pills and illegal drugs.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Miranda Nicole Lewis, 36, and James Thomas Lewis, 32, were in a vehicle driven by Miranda Lewis that was pulled over by Cave Spring police Saturday night after she failed to use a turn signal when turning right at an intersection.
It was later found that both had clonazepam and marijuana, with Miranda Lewis also having suspected alprazolam and methamphetamine. James Lewis had a glass smoking pipe with suspected marijuana residue, plastic bags and a set of digital scales — with many of the pills packaged for resale.
The two face felony charges, with Miranda Lewis charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, while James Lewis is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Both are charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and drugs not in the original container.
In addition to those charges, James Lewis is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects
Miranda Lewis is also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and improper lane change.
Warrant: Woman tried to get drugs to prisoner
An Atlanta woman was transferred to the Floyd County Jail on charges she conspired with a Floyd County Prison inmate to get him marijuana.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Santasha Keivona Watkins, 26, spoke with Suliman Adebara, who was an inmate at Floyd County Prison at the time, to have the marijuana dropped at the Shannon recreation complex for him to retrieve during a work detail. The package contained 40.6 grams of suspected marijuana.
Watkins is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, use of a communication facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances and items prohibited for possession by inmates, all felony counts.
She was transferred to Rome from the Clayton County Jail.

A Rome woman was released from jail on bond after police say she was found with suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and a glass smoking device.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jennifer Nicole Langston, 35, is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
Stop sign violation leads to drugs, weapon charges
A Rome man remained in jail without bond Monday after police say they found multiple illegal substances and a stolen gun in his vehicle following a traffic stop.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Tyree Juwan Small, 44, failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Walter Street and John Davenport Drive on Friday night.
Small was found with multiple packages of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine during the traffic stop that followed, as well as a stolen gun. Small is a convicted felon.
Small is charged with three counts of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute along with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and a stop sign violation.
Report: Cocaine found after DUI arrest
A Rome man was released from jail on $5,700 bond after he allegedly nearly caused a wreck on Martha Berry Boulevard and was found with an open beer can and cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Gregory Nazee Lee, 63, made a left-hand turn into the Royal Inn, 1201 Martha Berry Blvd., Friday night, forcing a motorcyclist to come to a complete stop in the road to avoid a collision.
After a witnessing officer performed a traffic stop, the smell of alcohol was detected and a 25-ounce Bud Ice can was seen in the vehicle. After Lee’s arrest, a crack cocaine rock was found in the center console of the vehicle.
Lee is charged with felony possession of cocaine along with misdemeanor counts of DUI, Failure to yield and an open container violation.
Traffic stop uncovers heroine
A Rome man jailed after suspected heroin was found in his vehicle following a traffic stop was released on a $3,500 bond.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Joshua Mckinnley Paige, 35, is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance after a search of the vehicle uncovered a bag with the drug. A Rome Police Department K-9 indicated the presence of the substance during a free-air sniff of the vehicle.

Candice Darlene Aycock, 48, was found with the object at Buffalo’s Cafe, 440 Shorter Ave., around 8 p.m. Friday. She is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drugrelated objects.

A Rome man was being held on $5,700 bond Monday after he allegedly threatened to beat a woman.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
David Patrick West, 51, threatened the woman multiple times in a recording on the woman’s phone. He is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts.

A Rome man who allegedly pointed a gun at a man at a residence was released from jail on bond.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Wilfredo Vasquez, 48, pointed a gun at a man late Friday night, causing him to fear for his safety. Vasquez is charged with felony aggravated assault.
