Rome BOE to get ELOST update, hold budget hearing
A Rome man remained in jail without bond Monday after police say he threatened to kill someone.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Mark Anthony Dunn, 34, went into another person’s bedroom with a gun and threatened to kill the individual.
Dunn is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts under the Family Violence Act.
Police: Rome felon had shotgun
A 57-year-old Rome man was in jail Monday, facing a facing a felony firearms charge.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Bobby Roger Thomas, a convicted felon, was in possession of a shotgun at his residence Sunday evening.
Thomas is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police: Rome man had synthetic marijuana
A Rome man was in jail without bond Monday after police say he had synthetic marijuana.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Zachary Colt Edwards Sr., 23, is charged with a felony for purchase or possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, and a felony probation violation, following an arrest Saturday on Martha Berry Boulevard.
Traffic stop leads to drug, DUI charges for Rome man
A Rome man was in jail Monday with a bond set at $3,500 following his arrest on drug and DUI charges.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Andre Dwayne Evans, 36, was stopped Saturday on Cave Spring Road and is charged with a felony for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and a misdemeanor for driving under the influence.
2 facing drug charges after traffic stop
A pair of Flowery Branch residents are facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Ga. 20 near Westhaven Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jerena Campbell Grimm, 53, and Bruce Anthony Borgerding, 52, were in a vehicle that was pulled over for speeding Saturday and each was found with a quantity of methamphetamine.
Both Grimm and Borgerding are charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, as well as misdemeanor marijuana possession and possession of drug related objects. Grimm is additionally charged with speeding.
Borgerding was still in jail Monday with a $5,700 bond.

State inmate returned to face local drug charges
A Plainville man has been returned to Floyd County to face local drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Matthew T. Jones, 38, of Plainville was returned to Rome Friday from the Bullock County Correctional Institute to face felony charges for sale or possession of dangerous drugs, three counts of sale or possession of dangerous drugs within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
He’s also charged with the misdemeanors possession of drug related objects and two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officers.
Report: Traffic stop nets two felons with firearm
A traffic stop on Watson Street resulted in the arrest of two men for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Cederick Cortez Carter Jr., 26 and Sir Christoper Charles Carter, 30, were taken into custody late Friday after the city police officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a .25 caliber handgun was subsequently found in a backpack in the vehicle.
Both men denied ownership of the weapon. When the vehicle was removed from the scene, a bag of marijuana was found underneath where the vehicle had been. Again, both men denied having anything to do with the marijuana.
Both men are charged with felonies for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanors for tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana.
Cederick Carter was also charged with a misdemeanor for failing to maintain a lane, which resulted in the initial traffic stop. He was still in jail Monday with no bond set.
Armuchee woman facing meth, marijuana charges
An Armuchee woman is facing a pair of drug charges following a weekend arrest.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Mary Elizabeth Trotter, 42, of Armuchee was arrested Friday night just after 10 p.m. in the 3100 block of Maple Road where Floyd County police found her with a partially smoked marijuana blunt and a white crystalline rock of suspected methamphetamine.
Trotter is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Road check leads to drug arrest of Rome man
A Rome man was in jail Monday with a bond set at $4,000 after police say he was found with drugs during a traffic stop.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Tyler Matthew Wright, 31, was stopped by a Georgia State Patrol trooper just before midnight Friday near the intersection of Alabama Highway and Old River Road.
Wright was operating a motorcycle with no tag, no license and no insurance information and he provided the officer with a false name.
The trooper found quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana at the scene and Wright admitted to have smoked marijuana.
Wright is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation. He is also charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, giving a false name to law enforcement, driving without a license, operating an unregistered vehicle, contempt of Superior Court and no insurance.
Missing tail light ends in Cedar Bluff man’s arrest
A driver from Cedar Bluff, Alabama, is facing several drug charges after being pulled over in Floyd County.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Harbin Layton Hurst Mcgeary III, 24, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, was arrested Saturday night at U.S. 411 East and Biddy Road during a traffic stop. County police found a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Mcgeary is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanors for possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, a tail light violation and operating an unsafe vehicle.
Report: Armuchee woman struck child
An Armuchee woman is facing felony charges after police say she injured a child.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Hareen Little Tear Scoggins, 36, of Armuchee is charged with felony cruelty to children for making physical contact with a child that left marks on the boy’s face during an incident just before midnight Friday night at a location on North Broad Street.
Man allegedly threatens to kill woman
A Rome man remained in jail Monday without bond, accused of threatening a woman’s life.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Michael Dewayne Green, 42, was arrested at the Food Mart, 1109 Martha Berry Blvd., early Saturday morning after being told not to come back onto the property. He told a woman he would kill her, a statement overhead by a witness.
Green is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts, a felony probation violation and misdemeanor criminal trespassing.
