Cartersville man arrested on child molestation charges
A Cartersville man was in jail Monday on an $11,200 bond, charged with child molestation.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Kyle Phillip Sumner, 36, used a computer to contact someone he thought to be a child and traveled to Floyd County to meet the person.
Sumner is charged with felony child molestation and using a computer service to solicit a child 1415 years old to commit illegal acts.
Public drunk arrest leads to felony drug

A Rome man was in jail Monday on a $3,500 bond after a public drunkenness arrest led to a drug charge.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Justin Keith Jones, 28, was arrested on Division Street near Cleveland Avenue Saturday while drunk in public and had synthetic marijuana in his possession.
Jones is charged with felony purchase/possession of synthetic marijuana, and misdemeanor public drunkenness.
Lindale woman facing felony assault charge
A Lindale woman was in jail Monday on an $11,200 bond following an incident on Marion Dairy Road, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Silvia Denise Zenga, 40, was arrested at her home Sunday following a physical altercation in which she slapped an individual and pointing a gun at them.
Zenga is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor terroristic threats and acts, along with simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
Hortense man facing theft, drug charges
A Hortense man was arrested Monday after a traffic stop led to drug and theft charges.

James Hugh Pittman, Jr., 51, was stopped by Cave Spring police on Cedartown Highway near Mason Circle early Monday. He had an ounce of methamphetamine and a twoway radio belonging to the Georgia State Patrol.
Pittman is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and trafficking methamphetamine.

Woodstock man
charged with exploiting a child
A Woodstock man remained in jail with no bond Monday after being charged with aggravated child molestation, sexual exploitation of a child and obscene internet contact with a child.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Charles Leo Houston, 31, of Woodstock, traveled to Floyd County to meet up with someone he believed was under 16 years old. He had been in contact with the person over the internet and asked the person to do explicit sexual acts with him.
Police chase ends in
drug arrest
A 20-year-old man was arrested on 11 charges following a lengthy chase by police, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Shuntavious Shermar Clark, 20, was driving 84 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone when police attempted to stop him. Originally on Biddy Road near Ga. 20, Clark led police onto Callier Springs
Road, Dodd Boulevard and back to Ga. 20.
The officer executed a pursuit intervention technique, which caused Clark to crash. The Rome man then began to run away, discarding a firearm in the process. The officer ended up tasing Clark and caught him after a foot pursuit.
Clark seemed to be under the influence of marijuana and officers found a large amount of marijuana in the car, as well as baggies and scales. They also seized $1,325 from Clark during the search.
He is charged with felony fleeing; two counts of purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana and possession of a firearm during a crime.
He’s also facing misdemeanor charges of obstruction of law enforcement officers; driving under the influence; reckless driving; speeding; failure to maintain lane; failure to obey a traffic control device; and possession of a weapon without a license.
Rome man accused of stealing from cars
A Rome man was arrested at Garden Inn and Suites on drug, theft and trespassing charges.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Cory Alexander Bethune, 24, broke into two vehicles at Cornerstone Concrete and stole two ipads on July 7. When Floyd County Sheriff’s Office deputies came to the Garden Inn and Suites to serve a warrant, they found suspected meth and marijuana in the room.
He is charged with two counts of entering a motor vehicle with intent to commit a theft, criminal trespass, theft by taking, marijuana possession and meth possession.

A Summerville man was arrested near Redmond Regional Medical Center after a K9 search found MDMA and meth in his car, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Tyrie Corneleous White, 29, of Summerville, was driving in violation of his instructional permit when he was pulled over. The K9 found drugs under the driver’s seat.
White is charged with felony posession of meth and a Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor violation of license class. He was released from jail on bond.

bit another during fight at Harvest Moon
A Rome woman is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor escape after biting a woman at Harvest Moon Cafe and slipping out of her handcuffs in a Rome police vehicle, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Crystal Marie Staley, 32, yelled profanities as the Rome police officer put her in the back of the patrol car and spit on the seats. She also banged on the windows. She was visibly inebriated, stumbling and slurring her words during the arrest.
Staley is also charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Task force arrests Silver Creek woman

Rome-floyd Metro Task Force officers found THC vape cartridges and methamphetamine during a search warrant at a Silver Creek woman’s home on Crossbridge Drive, reports stated.

Shanonda Letitia May, 29, of Silver Creek, also had scales and a large amount of marijuana at the residence. Officers also found a pistol at the home.
May is charged with two counts of possessing a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and meth possession.
Report: Probationer removed monitoring
device
A Rome woman is charged with unlawful removal of an electronic monitoring device after taking off the device and leaving it at the Walmart Super Center on Cartersville Highway, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Ashley Nichole Butts, 17, damaged the device during the removal. Wearing the monitor was a condition for her probation and Butts is also charged with a felony probation violation.
Rome man charged with 2nd family violence offense
A 38-year-old man remained in jail with no bond Monday after being charged with a second family violence battery offense.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
On June 12, Corey Adam Jacobs, 38, pushed a man to the ground and caused cuts on his left forearm and elbow. Jacobs also punched the man several times, causing a large knot to form on his head.
