GBI arrests man on drug, firearms charges
A Rome man who fled from a traffic stop for a window tint violation is accused of attempting to run over a police officer, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Kerry Lamar Grier Jr., 29, was arrested by GBI agents Friday night at Floyd Medical Center. Grier dropped more than an ounce of marijuana when fleeing. He also had a backpack that contained a 9mm Glock.
He is charged with the felonies possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; purchase, sale or distribution of marijuana; manufacturing a controlled substance; and aggravated assault on a police officer
He also faces misdemeanor charges for a window tint violation, reckless driving, a seat belt violation, fleeing or attempting to elude police, aggressive driving and hit and run.

A Rome man is accused of fleeing from and kicking police officers.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Carlos Escutia Cruz, 17, rand from police early Sunday while they were investigating a call on Broad Street near Second Avenue and ignored commands to stop. Cruz then kicked two officers and stomped on the foot of one of them.
Cruz is charged with felony obstruction of an officer, as well as misdemeanor simple assault and willful obstruction of law enforcement.

A Silver Creek man was arrested following an altercation at a Hickory Mountain Drive address.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Bruce Leonard Tyree, 57, struck someone causing “serious bodily” harm. He was at the property after being told to leave.
Tyree is charged with felony aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor simple assault and criminal trespass, both under the Family Violence Act.

A Rome man remained in jail without bond Monday following a felony drug arrest.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Dexter Lee Johnson, 46, was arrested Sunday evening at an East Main Street address when he was found in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, with the majority of it in individual baggies for resale. He then provided officers with a false name. He also signed his fingerprint cards with a false name during jail booking.
Johnson is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute as well as misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, false statements and writings and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.
Cedartown pair jailed on felony drug charge
A Cedartown pair remained in jail Monday without bond following an early morning drug arrest.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Terrie Lynn Johnson, 51, and Jeffery Eugene Winkles, 46, were arrested just after midnight Monday at a Fosters Mill Road address when they were both found with a “clear crystal like substance” thought to be methamphetamine, along with glass smoking devices with “white powdery residue.”
Johnson and Winkles are each charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor possession and use of drugrelated objects.

Jail reports:
Rickey Horace Andrew Franklin, 33, was pulled over for speeding around 2:17 a.m. Sunday and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. A bag of Ecstacy and a bag of marijuana were also located inside the vehicle.
Also in the vehicle was Samuel Michael Williams, 28, who also had Ecstasy tablets along with marijuana.
Franklin is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. He is also charged with misdemeanor speeding, DUI, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Williams is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Report: Summerville woman damaged jail

A 45-year-old Summerville woman remained in jail on a $3,500 bond Monday after police say she damaged a jail telephone.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Beth Raylene Neighbors damaged a phone inside the W2 area of the Floyd County Jail around 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
Neighbors is charged with felony interference with government property and misdemeanor criminal trespass.
Argument with elderly woman leads to felony charge for Rome man
A Rome man remained in jail on a $5,700 bond Monday after an argument with an elderly person led to a felony intimidation charge, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Dustin James Lopez, 29, became loud and threatening while arguing with a 75-year-old woman. He is charged with felony exploitation and intimidation of an elder person.

A Rome man remained in jail without bond Monday on drug and obstruction charges following an arrest on Broad Street over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Eric Carl Virta, 27, ran from two officers just after midnight Sunday. Virta was found in possession of three baggies of marijuana packaged for sale and two Xanax pills.
Virta is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute as well as misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and obstruction.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Steven Andrew Richards, 20, was found in possession of four counterfeit $100 bills during the execution of a search warrant. He also had two baggies of marijuana, a vape pen containing THC oil and a smoking device containing THC wax.

A 40-year-old Clarkesville man was arrested in Cave Spring on meth charges, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Michael James Martin was stopped by police near the intersection of Park Street and Cedartown Street Saturday morning. He fled from police and gave several false names and dates of birth during his arrest.
He is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, forgery, a felony probation violation, and misdemeanors for false statements or writings, and giving police a false information.

Delaine Johnson, 27, was picked up by Metro Task Force officers Friday after they found more than an ounce of marijuana, scales, Ecstacy pills and oxycodone at her home.
She is charged with the felonies possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, sale, purchase or possession of Ecstasy, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute
Johnson is also charged with the misdemeanors drugs not kept in an original container and possession of drugrelated objects

Gregory Bernard Watkins, 37, was arrested early Friday on Dodd Boulevard and charged with possession of methamphetamine after he was found with a glass pipe containing methamphetamine inside the bowl. He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of a drug related object.

Johnny Williams Jr., 45, was stopped by Rome Police at Broad Street and Sixth Avenue around 7:30 Friday night.
He is charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor speeding, having an open container of alcohol and driving under the
influence.
Teens charged with motor vehicle theft
A couple of teenagers face several felony charges in connection with the theft of a vehicle in Rome.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jerry Alexander Parr, 17, of Aragon had the key to a 2008 GMC Sierra when he was arrested Friday night. The vehicle had been taken earlier in the day from a home on Atwood Drive. Police also said Parr had numerous items that had been taken from the vehicle.
He is charged with the felonies entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft, theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property and theft by taking a motor vehicle, as well as misdemeanor criminal trespassing.
Another teen, 18-year-old Dustin Paul Lewis Cronan, is charged with felony theft by taking the same vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property, entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft, theft by taking and being a party to a crime for bring a lookout while Parr entered a second vehicle on Nest Drive.
Drug charge filed against Alabama driver
A motorist observed driving across a double yellow line in Cave Spring faces serious felony drug charges after being pulled over by Cave Spring police, reports stated.

Jenny Marie Harvey, 37, of Centre, Alabama, was stopped near the intersection of Park and Cedartown streets around 1:15 a.m. Saturday. A bag of meth was found in the floorboard of the vehicle and a small quantity of meth was found on her at the jail.
