Rome couple jailed on gun, traffickin­g charges

Two Rome residents remained in jail without bond Thursday after a search warrant led to drug and gun charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Avery Lea Holcombe, 31, and Scotty Joel Venable, 37, were found with methamphet­amine, synthetic marijuana, scales, glass smoking pipes, and two handguns at a Redmond Circle apartment late Wednesday.

Both Holcombe and Venable are charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine, possession of methamphet­amine with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, and traffickin­g methamphet­amine. Both are also charged with misdemeano­r possession and use of drugrelate­d objects

Venable is additional­ly charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges for pair

A pair of Rome residents were arrested after a traffic stop on Ga. 53 at Harvey Street led to drug charges, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Linda Gail Simmons, 51, was pulled over Wednesday evening for failure to signal. A search using a K-9 led to an officer finding methamphet­amine in the center console armrest.

Simmons is charged with

felony possession of methamphet­amine. She was released from jail Thursday on a $5,700 bond.

Reginald Thomas Fergoda II, 34, was a passenger in the vehicle and also had drugs. Fergoda is charged with felony possession of marijuana, and misdemeano­r possession of less than an ounce of marijuana,

He was released from jail Thursday on a $3,500 bond.

Report: Shannon woman had meth during welfare check

A 48-year-old Rome woman remained in jail without bond Thursday after she was found with drugs, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Pamela Diane Reese, who is on probation, was found with methamphet­amine and a glass smoking pipe during a welfare check at a gas station on Martha Berry Highway early Thursday morning.

Reese is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine and a probation violation. She is also charged with possession of drug-related objects.
