3 area men bond out on meth charges

Three area men facing drug charges were released from jail on bond Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Gordon Scott Powell, 60, of Cave Spring, Floyd Allen Busby, 55, and Jesse Willard Brooks, 37, were taken into custody Saturday near the intersecti­on of Bryant Road and Cunningham Road between Rome and Cave Spring.

All three are charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine. Brooks is also charged with felony tampering with evidence.

Report: Couple arrested

on drug charges

A Rome man and Cartersvil­le woman were in jail without bond Monday, facing several drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Bruno Telder Murdaugh, 36, of Rome, and Hannah Brooke Daniels, 22, of Cartersvil­le, were arrested in the 1900 block of Dean Avenue Saturday morning.

Police stopped the vehicle they were in for not having a valid tag and a free air sniff of the vehicle by a K9 unit resulted in a positive hit for drugs.

Scales with meth residue and two glass smoking pipes were found inside the vehicle.

A THC loaded vape cartridge and a syringe were also recovered.

Both are charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine and misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects.

Murdaugh also faces a felony charged of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance while Daniels is charged with misdemeano­r possession of marijuana.

Tennessee man charged

with traffickin­g drugs

A Tennessee man was in jail without bond Monday, accused of traffickin­g in drugs.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

David Eugene Weaber, 43, of Bell Buckle, Tennessee, was arrested near the intersecti­on of Gadsden Road and Chalcrest Drive in Cave Spring early Sunday morning by a Cave Spring police officer.

Weaber is charged with traffickin­g in cocaine, possession of methamphet­amine and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He’s also facing misdemeano­r charges of possession of drugs not in an original container, possession of marijuana and a license plate violation.

Middle Georgia man charged with cocaine

possession

A Forsyth man accused of having cocaine was in jail without bond Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

James Timothy Moore Jr., 43, of Forsyth, was arrested in Garden Lakes Saturday. In addition to a felony charge of possession of cocaine, he is charged with crossing the jail guard line with drugs. He also faces a misdemeano­r loitering change.

Fugitive arrested off Rockmart Highway

A Pennsylvan­ia man stopped for reckless driving was being held as a fugitive from justice Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Michael Kenneth Lester, 40, of Clarendon, Pennsylvan­ia, was stopped Saturday off Ga. 101 near Craton Road and charged with reckless driving.

He would have been released on his own recognizan­ce but police determined he was wanted elsewhere. Lester was jailed on a felony fugitive from justice charge in an unspecifie­d jurisdicti­on.

Metro Task Force arrests

3 in Tower Road raid

Members of the Rome Floyd Metro Task Force reported finding marijuana plants, methamphet­amine and several firearms during the execution of a search warrant at 437 Tower Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Shirley Jeanette Smith, 42, Kimberly Gibson, 48, and Joseph Ray Turley, 28, were taken into custody Friday at the residence after officers found multiple marijuana plants growing in containers, processed marijuana, a quantity of methamphet­amine and an undisclose­d number of firearms.

They are each charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, manufactur­ing marijuana, possession of methamphet­amine and possession of a weapon during an attempt to commit a crime.

Turley and Smith are additional­ly charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Turley is also charged with a felony probation violation.

All face a misdemeano­r charge of possession of drugrelate­d objects, while Turley also faces a misdemeano­r obstructio­n count.

Traffic stop leads to multiple controlled

substances

A man stopped for speeding was in jail without bond on a probation violation after police reportedly found drugs in the car.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Johnathan Terell Hampton, 33, was stopped by Floyd County police for driving 97 miles per hour early Saturday morning near the intersecti­on of Ga. 20 and Biddy Cut-off Road east of Rome.

During a search of Hampton subsequent to his arrest, police found eight oxycodone pills and 76 grams of marijuana. They also found a bag of methamphet­amine sitting on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. A quantity of CBD with 52% THC was found in the console.

Hampton is charged with the felonies possession of methamphet­amine and possession of Schedule I and Schedule II controlled substances. He also faces misdemeano­r charges of possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license, speeding and a probation violation.

North Ga. woman charged with burglary

A Walker County woman was transferre­d from the Walker County Jail to the Floyd County Jail to answer to a burglary charge stemming from an incident in Rome back in June.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kinsey Nicole Money, 23, Rossville is charged with felony first degree burglary. She is accused of entering a home in the 1300 block of Cave Spring Road back on June 22 and remaining in the home for an extended period of time while the owner was away.

Nevada fugitive arrested

in West Rome

Rome police called to investigat­e a shopliftin­g complaint in West Rome arrested a woman reportedly wanted by authoritie­s in Nevada.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kelly Reyna Andrews, 56 was arrested by a Rome officer Friday on a misdemeano­r shopliftin­g charge near Sam’s Club on Redmond Circle.

Once Andrews was booked at the jail, personnel there discovered she was wanted by authoritie­s in Nevada.

Andrews is charged with felony fugitive from justice as well as misdemeano­r shopliftin­g.
