Downtown Rome merchants are hosting a Candy Crawl in lieu of trick or treating through Friday, Oct. 30. Businesses displaying a large candy corn sign in their front window will be handing out candy or a goody to children 12 and under who are dressed in costume and accompanie­d by a parent or guardian.

The Office of Downtown Rome and Business Developmen­t District is sponsoring a free showing of the movie “Casper” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in the City Auditorium, 601 Broad St. Seating is limited and tickets must be reserved in advance online at www.freshtix. com/events/halloweenm­ovie-night—casper. Face masks are encouraged.

The Unified Land Developmen­t SubCommitt­ee will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday,

Oct. 30, in the Sam King Room at Rome City Hall, 601 Broad St., and virtually by Zoom to discuss upcoming text amendments. There a public participat­ion portion.

SATURDAY

Rome- Floyd Parks & Recreation will host a drive- through Truck or Treat from 3:30 — 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the parking lot of Ridge Ferry Park, 363 Riverside Parkway. Limit is one candy bag per child 12 and under; four bags per vehicle.

Unity Baptist Church,

2261 Pleasant Valley Road, is hosting a free Fall-o-ween Jesus Festival from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 31. The event includes a costume contest — no scary costumes, please — trunk or treat, games and prizes.

Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 17 Pennington Ave., will have a “Save our Community Forum” from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Charles Love will be the facilitato­r. For more info call 706-234 6413.

Three area churches — Bush Arbor Baptist Church, Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, and Vanns Valley Baptist Church — will be giving away hot dogs and candy from 6 to 9 p.m. on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, in front of the caboose on Broad Street in Cave Spring. Everyone is welcome.
