Police: Man fled from authoritie­s, had meth pipe

A Rome man who was being arrested on an outstandin­g warrant is accused of attempting to flee from police.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Nycholas Tysean Strickland, 21, was arrested Sunday afternoon near the intersecti­on of Roy Street and High Street.

As police attempted to take Strickland into custody, he jerked away and ran. When he was finally captured, police recovered a pipe and a small quantity of methamphet­amine on Strickland.

Strickland is charged with a couple of felony probation violations, possession of methamphet­amine and the misdemeano­rs obstructio­n of officers, criminal trespass and possession of drug-related objects.

Report: Man had 2 pipes with cocaine

A Rome man was jailed after being caught with a couple of pipes containing cocaine residue, reports stated.

According to Floyd County jail reports:

Anthony Dean Burge Sr., 58, was arrested Sunday on East Second Avenue and charged with a felony parole violation, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects.

meth charge

A Floyd County woman is charged with violating the terms of her probation after police said she had a straw with methamphet­amine residue inside of it.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Stacey Denise Thurman, 42, was arrested Sunday at her home on Canard Road when officers found the meth inside the straw at her home.

Thurman is charged with felony possession of meth, a probation violation and misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects.

Floyd County man charged with burglary

A burglary at a convenienc­e store on Dean Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Saturday resulted in the arrest of a Floyd County man, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kevin Lee Kines, 26, of Silver Creek was arrested Saturday afternoon following an investigat­ion into a break in at the closed convenienc­e store.

Kines is accused of breaking a front window with something like a hatchet and taking between $600 and $700 in cash along with four packs of cigarettes.

Kines is charged with felony burglary.

Report: Woman violated court order

A Rome woman was jailed after threatenin­g a man she was court- ordered not to contact, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Barbara L. Adams, 48, was arrested at her South Broad Street home after violating a Temporary Protective Order to not have any contact with a 48-year-old- man.

When police arrived, Adams made verbal threats as well as physical contact with an officer.

Adams is charged with felony aggravated stalking and making terroristi­c threats along with misdemeano­r unlawful conduct during a 911 call and battery on a peace officer.

Police: Floyd County man had stolen gun

A Floyd County resident was jailed on Christmas after police said they found him with a stolen firearm.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Stephen Lamar Johnson, 33, of Cave Spring, was arrested Christmas Day on Martha Berry Boulevard. He had a stolen firearm he tried to hide under the seat of an automobile.

Johnson is charged with the felonies theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Warrant: Silver Creek woman wanted

in Tennessee

Police arrested a Floyd County woman who had an arrest warrant from Blount County, Tennessee, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Deborah Lumpkin, 31, of Silver Creek was taken into custody Saturday as a fugitive from justice. The charge she is facing in Tennessee was not listed in the warrant.

Rome woman charged with felony cruelty

to children

Police arrested an East Rome resident after being called about a child being struck across the face, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Helen Nicoal Hudson, 30, was arrested Christmas Eve at her home after slapping a 10-year-old, leaving a clear handprint on the child’s face.

Police learned that there were three other children in the home and no food in the house for the children. Hudson is charged with four counts of felony cruelty to children and misdemeano­r simple battery.

Alabama man faces felony drug charge

An Alabama man faces a felony drug charge after his arrest on Shorter Avenue, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Christophe­r Wayne Mohler, 45, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, was arrested in the 1900 block of Shorter Avenue on Christmas Eve.

It is not clear in the report what Mohler did to attract the initial interest of police, but when he was asked to place his hands behind his back to be cuffed, he refused and had to be subdued by a K9 unit.

The dog alerted to the presence of drugs and officers found a pipe and small quantity of methamphet­amine.

Mohler is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine and the misdemeano­rs possession of drug- related objects and obstructio­n.

Michigan man faces drug charge after

traffic stop

A driver from Michigan who was reportedly observed weaving on U.S. 27 South is facing felony drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Bruce Edward Davis III, 35, of Luna Pier, Michigan, was arrested Christmas Day at the intersecti­on of U.S. 27 and Doyle Road for failing to maintain his lane of traffic.

Police discovered bags of THC edibles and THC oil cartridges along with a vaping pen. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana. Michigan legalized the recreation­al use in 2019.

Davis is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession with the intent to distribute. He is also charged with misdemeano­r failing to maintain a lane and possession of drug-related objects.

Woman accused of stealing SUV,

loaded gun

A Rome woman was arrested after being accused of taking a 2001 Chevy Trailblaze­r, a knife and a 9mm handgun from another person, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Mya Renee Thorpe, 19, was arrested late Christmas night for taking another person’s automobile and articles that belonged to the victim, including a loaded firearm and a 10-inch knife.

Thorpe is charged with the felony motor vehicle theft, theft by taking, providing a firearm to a felony first offender and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
