Report: Police called about shot fired in apartment, find drugs
Rome police called to a home on Blankenship Place after a man shot a bullet through the floor of his apartment found marijuana and ecstacy pills, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Faheem Tyreek El-amin, 24, was arrested Monday evening at his home on Blankenship Place where police recovered a weapon, more than an ounce of marijuana and a quantity of MDMA/ ecstasy pills.
Some of the marijuana was already packaged for resale and officers also seized a set of scales.
El-amin is charged with two counts of purchase or possession of marijuana, one count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and misdemeanors for reckless conduct and possession of drug-related objects.
Traffic violation leads to felony drug arrest
A Rome man stopped for running a red light faces felony drug charges in addition to driving under the influence, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Zachary Daniel Chastain, 29, was pulled over by Rome police around 10 p.m. Monday for running a light near West First Street and Riverside Parkway.
A search of the vehicle turned up an open container of alcohol, a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue, a marijuana grinder and a pack a gummy worms with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
The officer also recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the vehicle.
Chastain is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He also faces misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drugrelated objects, driving under the influence, failure to obey a traffic device and an open container violation.
Rome man charged with theft from local school
Video taken from surveillance cameras at North Heights Elementary School helped Rome police make an arrest in connection with a theft from the campus back in December, reports stated.
According to Floyd County jail reports:
David Robert Downs Jr., 47, turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a felony theft by taking charge.
Downs is accused of entering the school between Dec. 12 and 15 and taking more than $5,100 worth of items.
