Mr. Earnest Cabe, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday January 24, 2021. Earnest was born on December 8, 1927 in Lindale, Georgia to the late Joseph Wheeler Cabe and Hannah Cordelia Stepp Cabe. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Wesley Cabe (Linda); Douglas Cabe (Lynne); and Russell Cabe (Tammy); one brother, Cleaston Cabe, and a sister, Kizzie Bishop; four grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cabe was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Martha Joy Nicholson Cabe, four brothers: Earl Cabe, Hubert Cabe, Leonard Cabe, and Emmett Cabe, and three sisters Eva Hicks, Pauline Roberts, and Glenda Broome. Earnest enjoyed working for General Electric in several department­s and retired in 1992. He also worked for West Point Pepperell Manufactur­ing and owned the Lindale Shoe Shop. Mr. Cabe served for a short period in the U.S. Army before opening the shoe shop. Mr. Cabe loved ¿QGLQJ DQG FROOHFWLQJ DQ\thing old and studying Rome and Lindale history. He especially enjoyed digging for old bottles and metal detecting for coins and artifacts. Earnest and Martha visited numerous yard sales and sales days during retirement looking for treasures. Earnest was a member of the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church. He had a strong faith in God and loved reading the Bible. Earnest was known for delivering heartfelt prayers before family meals. Due to the national health crisis and in accordance with Mr. Cabe’s wishes, a graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday February 1, 2021 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Larry Williams will RI¿FLDWH $WWHQGHHV DUH UHquested to follow COVID-19 recommenda­tions for socially distancing and wearing protective masks.
