KINSEY, Barbara Elaine

Mrs. Barbara Elaine Kinsey, age 83, of Rome, GA, passed away Tuesday evening, March 30, 2021, in a local hospital.

Barbara was born in Buchanan, VA, on November 30, 1937, daughter of the late Jesse Robert Hodges and Madeline Virginia Patterson Hodges. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County the greater part of her life and was a faithful member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Barbara worked for many years at Creswell Nursing Home and was always caring for other people. She enjoyed reading her Bible, doing yard work, cooking, and being loved by her cats. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Kinsey, Sr., on January 3, 1993, whom she married May 15, 1959. A son, Edward Lee Kinsey, Jr., and three brothers, Kenneth Hodges, Elbert Eugene Hodges and Gilbert Ray Hodges, also preceded her in death.

Barbara is survived by a daughter and son-inlaw, Victoria and Graham Thomas of Rome; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Tammy Kinsey of Rome, and Bo and Brandie Kinsey of Armuchee, GA. Eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon, April 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Alvis Miller Memorial Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home ZLWK 5HY 5DQG\ -LOHV Ri¿flating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Barbara’s family will receive friends Thursday evening, April 1, 2021, at Salmon Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at Salmon Funeral Home Friday by 1:30 p.m. and include Dewayne Carver, Larry Lassiter, Cameron Kinsey, Catlin Kinsey, Mark Mathis, Graham Thomas and Darrell Shirey. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Harris and Rocky Kinsey.
