Report: Man found with heroin on Martha Berry Boulevard

Police found heroin on a man whose license had been suspended for nonpayment of child support during a traffic stop on Martha Berry Boulevard at the Relax Inn, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Michael Wesley Rice, 42, is charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance as well as misdemeano­r driving on a suspended license and faulty tail light. Police found a folded piece of aluminum foil containing heroin tucked into a cigarette pack.

He remained in jail Wednesday without bond on a probation violation.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Cassandra Elizabeth Haney, 36, is charged with felony crossing the Floyd County Jail guard line with drugs and possession of methamphet­amine. She is also charged with misdemeano­r criminal trespass. A supervisor at the hotel said Haney “had been told on numerous occasions that she is not allowed back on any of his properties.”

She remained in jail Wednesday on a $5,700 bond.

Three catalytic converters stolen from business storage yard

Rome police reported three catalytic converters were stolen after a person cut through the fence of Loyd’s Rome Towing and Auto Repair Wednesday.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

Video footage showed a person entered the property between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday after vandalizin­g the fence. The vehicles were on the storage lot pending insurance claims and a supervisor estimated the total repair cost at $1,800. They also estimated the cost to repair the fence at $1,000.

Man charged after Berry Food Mart

A Rome man who had been banned from The Berry Food Mart at 1901 Martha Berry Blvd. was arrested after an altercatio­n with an employee at the shop, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Nigel Staples was playing machines at the store on Tuesday afternoon when an employee told him he was banned. Staples said he wasn’t banned from the store anymore and got into an altercatio­n with the employee outside the store. Police reviewed video of the scuffle caught on the store’s surveillan­ce system and arrested Staples on a misdemeano­r criminal trespass charge. The employee said they didn’t want to pursue other charges.
