Report: Rome woman stole $12,000 worth of furniture from Badcock store

A Rome woman was arrested at her home on Woods Road on Thursday on several theft and identity fraud charges involving an incident back in December 2020, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

While working at Badcock Home Furniture store, Jennifer Nicole Gonzales, 31, used another person’s name, date of birth, Social Security number and credit history to steal $12,000 worth of merchandis­e from the store.

She is charged with felony theft by deception, two counts of identity fraud and theft by taking. Gonzales was held on a $10,100 bond Thursday morning.

Police: Teen fled in stolen car at 100 mph

A Rome teen is charged with multiple traffic violations after he fled from police while driving a stolen vehicle at speeds topping 100 mph, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

William Lee Touchstone, 17, failed to stop at three locations while driving down Floyd Springs Road and Old Summervill­e Road, drifting into the northbound lane. He continued to drive in a reckless manner while traveling down John Davenport Drive and Elm Street, running several red lights as well.

The 2014 gray Chevrolet 2500 he was driving was reported stolen on April 18.

Touchstone is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, misdemeano­r failure to maintain lane, three counts of failure to obey traffic control devices, three counts of stop sign violations, two counts of speeding and reckless driving. Touchstone was held on a $11,400 bond Thursday afternoon.

Chattooga County man charged with motor vehicle theft

A Chattooga County man was arrested Thursday on a theft by taking motor vehicle charge involving an incident back in July 2018, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Brandon Scott Langley, 27, of Trion, took a 1989 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado from another person’s property. He was being held without bond for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.

Traffic stop leads to meth arrest

An Alabama man was arrested on a felony methamphet­amine possession charge at the intersecti­on of Gadsden Road and Fosters Mill Road in Cave Spring early Thursday morning, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Police stopped 34-yearold Daniel Lathen Formby, of Piedmont, Alabama, for a tag light violation. During the stop, the Cave Spring officer found Formby had a suspended license and a glass pipe with marijuana residue in it. He also had a bag of meth in his wallet and a hypodermic needle.

Formby is charged with felony meth possession, misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects, driving while license suspended and no tag light.

Rome man facing drug possession charge

A Rome man was being held without bond Thursday after he was arrested at the intersecti­on of Old Dalton Road and Dugger Drive on a meth possession charge, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail report:

Tyler Eugene Garner, 22, had suspected meth when he was searched, police said. He is also charged with a misdemeano­r probation violation.
