- BRADSHAW, James Daniel

James Daniel, “Jim” Bradshaw, age 71 of Rome, GA passed away at home on March 31, 2021. Born in 1950, and raised in Thomson, Georgia, Jim was a graduate of Thomson High School, and was a member of the 1967/68 state championsh­ip football team. He met his wife Susan Shoemaker of Cartersvil­le, GA at Shorter College, and in 1972, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administra­tion.

Jim received his Master of Divinity Degree in 1975, and his Doctor of ministry Degree in 1982 from The Southern Baptist Theologica­l Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Living a life of service, Jim served as the Assistant Pastor of Fourth Avenue Baptist Church of Louisville Kentucky from 1972-1975 and was the Associate Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Miami, FL from 1975-1979. He was then led to serve at First Baptist Church of Mcdonough, GA as the Senior Pastor for 22 years from 1979-2001, where he and Susan raised their two sons Hunt and Jared.

Jim and Susan then moved “home” to Rome, GA where he then served as the Director of Church relations and Shorter College Chaplain from 2001-2006. Before reWLULQJ -LP VHUYHG IRU ¿YH years as the Director of the Floyd County 211 informatio­n and referral line from 2007-2012. In 1996, Jim was nominated as a community hero of the local Rotary club and as a leader of his church. He was selected by the Atlanta Olympic committee to run the Olympic torch through the Mcdonough, GA town Square to 60,000 spectators on its way to the stadium in Atlanta.

Jim’s love of life, friends, fellowship, God, and his faith knew no bounds. Jim never met a stranger, and was always a ready friend with a smile, a hug, and a shoulder to lean on. He is survived by two sons, Hunt and Jaredand his loving wife, Susan Bradshaw, who has moved to Birmingham, AL to be near her sister, Martha Summey.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life of service and faith will take place on Saturday, June 19th 2021 at 11am at First Baptist Church, Rome, GA. If desired, friends may make memorial contributi­ons in his name to First Baptist Church Rome, GA, 100 East Fourth Ave. Rome, GA, 30161, where he and Susan have always enjoyed singing in worship with students from the local colleges.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel makes this announceme­nt for the family. band of 67 years, Thomas Eugene “Tom” Poe, by 4 sisters, Lizzie Cook, Madalyn Jones, Gloria Don Fowler, and Arabelle Francis, and by 2 brothers, Getzin and Ottis Hodge.

Mrs. Poe was a graduate of Newberry High School in Newberry, FL, and a 1951 graduate of Berry College. A career educator, she taught at Rabun Gap School, Johnson School, Central Primary, and at Midway School, where she retired following over 30 years in education. She, with her husband, made history in 2012 when Berry College honored WKHP DV WKH ¿UVW FRXSOH WR receive the “Charter Fellows Award for Outstandin­g Service to the Profession of Teaching.” Mrs. Poe was also active with her husband in the Carpenters for Christ program. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lindale where she was active in the W. M. U., in other mission’s activities, and was a member of the Syble Kilgo Sunday School Class. While in Kathleen, she attended Peachtree Baptist Church in Byron, GA.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Poe Love (Bob), Kathleen; 3 grandchild­ren, Bowen Love (Anna), Orlando, FL, Stephen Love, Kathleen, and Blake Love (Rebecca), Kennesaw; 6 great grandchild­ren, Brody Love, Everly Love, Jace Love, Genevieve Love, Beckett Love, and Baylor Love; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 1pm at the graveside in Floyd Memory Gardens. 7KH 5HY -LP &RRN ZLOO Ri¿ciate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 11am until 12:30pm. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Salmon Reynolds, Armuchee; 2 sons, Howard “Pat” Salmon (Diane), Armuchee, and Joe Salmon (Jennifer), Rome; a sister, Dean Avery Beard, Rome; 9 grandchild­ren, Allen Reynolds (Maki), Bill Reynolds (Emily), Jessica Salmon, Melissa Ellis (Ben), Alisha Gresham, Dustin Salmon, Molly Mason, Broke Mraz, and Sierra Allmon; 16 great grandchild­ren, Scott, Ansley, and Luke Reynolds, Allie Reynolds, Jaden and Justin Salmon, Aubrie and Pyper Ellis, Alana and Raiden Gresham, Brylee and Gracie Salmon, Corbyn and Ava Mason, Rowen Robbins, and Cameron Doyle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 3pm at New Armuchee Baptist Church with her Pastor, Dr. David Howard, and her nephew, Chaplain 'DYLG 7KRUQWRQ RI¿FLDWLQJ Interment will follow in New Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at New Armuchee Baptist Church on Sunday from 1pm until 2:45pm. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Pallbearer­s are requested to assemble at New Armuchee Baptist Church on Sunday at 2:30pm and include: Mac Eubanks, Woody Wyatt, Tommy Davis, Mark Lamade, Michael Baker, and Anthony Mcclain.
