Judy Steadman Dent Martin of Marietta, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, following a brief battle with acute myeloblast­ic leukemia. Heaven’s doors welcomed her home on her mother’s birthday. What a celebratio­n they must have had!!

Judy was born on April 4, 1948, in Rome, Georgia, to her late parents, Farrill Dorsey and Bernice Louise Thompson Steadman. Judy attended Model School in Shannon, Georgia, and graduated from Pepperell High School in Lindale, Georgia. After many years at home with her children, she worked as an Executive Assistant in the Department of Education for the State of Georgia. In recent years, she dedicated countless hours of her life to helping her insurance clients secure a better future for themselves and their families.

Judy was also preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Scott Steadman. She is survived by her two children and their spouses Tanya Dent Warren (Scott) and Alan Lance Dent (Lisa); her sisters Corlis Steadman Hall and Cathy Steadman Antalis (John); grandchild­ren Alexander “Alec” Scott Warren, Chase Anthony Warren, John Lawrence Dent, and Aubrey Judith Dent; as well as nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Judy was a kind, compassion­ate, and loving mother, grandmothe­r, sister, and friend. She faithfully served her family as a stay-at-home mom for many years, always providing a warm, supportive environmen­t full of love, hand-made clothes, and hot meals. She ensured that her children were well-prepared to succeed in life with a solid education and considered her children and grandchild­ren her greatest accomplish­ment. She spent many hours reading to them, cultivatin­g a love of learning and setting a wonderful example for her siblings and children to follow, a legacy that will continue for generation­s to come.

Faith and family always played a primary role in Judy’s life. She faithfully attended her home church every time the doors were open, and she spent many hours over the years carting her children to and from choir practice and AWANAS. She loved spending time with friends and family and her favorite pastime was dancing with her friends. She was a longtime member of the Atlanta Black Tie Club.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM at First Redeemer Church, Student and Family Center Banquet Hall, 2100 Peachtree Pkwy, Cumming, Georgia. All are welcome.
