PURYEAR, Tommy Dean

Mr. Tommy Dean Puryear, age 77, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at his residence.

Tommy was born in Acworth, Georgia on April 20, 1945, son of the late David Franklin Puryear and the late Nellie Mae Scroggs Puryear. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank Puryear, Lewis Puryear, Eston Smith, and Doyle Puryear, and sisters, Dorothy Mccollum and Barbara Puryear.

Tommy worked at Galey and Lord as an electricia­n. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r. He loved his family and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty Eugenia Rickett Puryear; his 2 sons, Kevin Dean Puryear (Rachel), Rome, and Kelly Eugene Puryear, Armuchee; his grandchild­ren, Taylor Puryear, Blake Puryear, Sophia and Marilyn Puryear, Mallory, Molly, Mckenna, Madden, and Maggie Puryear, Lydia Cosper, and Evelyn Nicholson; his brothers, Don Puryear (Arlette), Wildwood, GA, Thonn Puryear, Armuchee, Billy Puryear, Armuchee; his sister, Eloise Stephens, Acworth; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy O’kelly and his nephew, *HRUJH &XSS RI¿FLDWLQJ Interment will follow on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 11:00am at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting full military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 12:00 until 2:00pm.
