Traffic stop leads to meth, cocaine seizure

A Rome man was arrested at the intersecti­on of North Broad Street and Harvey Street after Rome police pulled him over for a brake light violation.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Joshua Dante Wade, 31, refused to stop and fled from the traffic stop, going over the speed limit and eventually losing control and crashing his vehicle into a ditch. Wade then ran from police officers.

While searching the vehicle, police found less than an ounce of marijuana, drugrelate­d objects and crack cocaine.

Wade is charged with felony meth possession, cocaine possession, misdemeano­r marijuana possession, fleeing from police, drugrelate­d object possession, two counts of obstructio­n of law enforcemen­t, failure to maintain lane, brake lights violation, driving on a suspended license and probation violation.

He was being held for the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

REPORT: COVINGTON MAN THREATENED TO KILL WOMAN

A Covington man is charged with felony terroristi­c threats and misdemeano­r simple battery after he reportedly struck a woman and he said he was going to kill her during an incident at Stor-it mini warehouses on Shorter Ave on May 2.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Christophe­r Samuel Talley, 44, was initially arrested at the Atlanta City Detention Center and brought to Floyd County Jail on Wednesday.

He was held without bond Thursday.

ROME WOMAN REPORTEDLY TAMPERED WITH UTILITY METERS

A Rome woman is charged with felony theft of services and misdemeano­r theft of services after she tampered with the water meter on her property and didn’t pay Georgia Power for electrical services, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Melissa Anne Benton, 46, owes Georgia Power over $9,000 for services at her Kelli Drive residence.

She also removed the lock from her water meter that had been placed there by the Floyd County Water Department for nonpayment.

She was being held for the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
