Mr. William Emory Mathis Jr., age 78, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022.

William was born in Chattooga County on April 23, 1944, son of the late William Emory Mathis Sr. and the late Annie Hughes. He was also preceded in GHDWK E\ KLV ¿UVW ZLIH (PLO\ Hansard Mathis, and by a brother, Roger Mathis. William graduated from Armuchee High School in the class of 1962. He was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church. He worked as a Journeyman Lineman/troubleman and retired from GA Power after an incredible 42 years. William was a Mason belonging to Floyd Springs Lodge #167 F.& A. M. and received KLV WK \HDU FHUWL¿FDWH

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Julianne Mathis; daughter, Janet Mathis Langston (Tony); son, David Mathis (Angela), & sons Troy & Jason Weber; sisters, Regina Tubbs (Rick), and Patricia Ward (Alvin); sister-in-law, Linda Mathis; 9 grandchild­ren & 7 great grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the service to follow in the chapel with the 5HY 'U 0LOOLH .LP RI¿FLDWING with full Masonic rights. Interment will follow in Old Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday at 11:00 AM and include: David Mathis, Chris Holcombe, Trevor Gilbert, Curt Ward, Wayne Riggle, and Dexter Presley. Honorary Pallbearer­s are the class of 1962 and friends of GA Power.
