2 men charged with 7 counts of animal cruelty

Two men were arrested at a Strand Street residence in East Rome after Rome police reportedly found seven emaciated dogs on the property.

According to Floyd County Jail reports: Gregory Lamar Morris, 55, and Quantaviou­s Quomon Zachery, 19, had deprived the dogs of adequate food, water and shelter. They are charged with seven misdemeano­r counts of animal cruelty. The two were released on bond Tuesday.

ROME WOMAN REPORTEDLY TRIED TO STAB PERSON

A Rome woman is charged with felony aggravated assault after Floyd County sheriff’s deputies arrested her on a warrant involving an incident from May 5. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Brenda Janette Cornejo Bibian, 26, attempted to stab or cut a person with a knife at a Mexican restaurant at 2115 Shorter Ave on May 5.

ARMUCHEE MAN CHARGED WITH TRAFFICKIN­G METH

An Armuchee man is charged with felony meth traffickin­g and intent to distribute after Rome police pulled him over and found 28 grams of meth in his vehicle, reports stated. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Christophe­r Avery Jones, 28, was pulled

over at the Economy Inn on Martha Berry Boulevard in relation to an active theft investigat­ion. During the stop, police found a catalytic converter that had been reported stolen. He also had over 28 grams of meth.

Jones is also charged with felony meth possession, misdemeano­r theft by taking parts of vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

REPORT: 73-YEAR-OLD MAN FACING FELONY DRUG CHARGE

During a traffic stop for following too closely, Rome police arrested a 73-yearold man after they found him driving intoxicate­d and in possession of Prozac pills, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports: Lawrence Sam Henry Jr. is charged with felony possession of Schedule IV controlled substance, misdemeano­r driving under the influence, open container violation and following too closely.
