Eva Joyce Jones Bowen, 87, of Rome, GA passed away in Oxford, Alabama on June 27, 2022. She was born on October 21, 1934 in Gordon, GA, Wilkinson County, GA. Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J. W. Bowen. She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Bessie Jones. All of her siblings preceded her in death; Cecil Jones, Roy Jones, Irene Higgs, Wilmoth Thompson, Jean Price and Ronald Jones.

Upon graduating from Gordon High School, Norman Jr. College, Tift College, Mercer University and the University of Georgia, Mrs. Bowen served LQ WKH HGXFDWLRQ ¿HOG DV D Reading Consultant with the Heart of Georgia RESA. She spent many hours with stuGHQWV DQG WHDFKHUV IXO¿OOLQJ her passionate task of helping others in the area of reading.

Mrs. Bowen was also a pastor’s wife and served with her husband to minister to the people at Faith Baptist in Macon, GA, Chester Baptist in Dodge County and Cadwell Baptist in Laurens County. +HU MRXUQH\ ZDV ¿OOHG KHOSING others as she believed a life of service demonstrat­ed the love of Jesus.

She is survived by her three children Agnes Williams (Mitch) of Rome, John Bowen (Glenna) of Monroe, NC, and James Bowen (Virginia) of Oxford, AL. Also surviving are grandchild­ren; Matt Williams, Dr. Byers Bowen (Ann), Lauren Sracic (Jim), Wes Bowen (Karyn), Ashley Mccoy (Blake), Jonathon Bowen and Anna Bowen. Additional­ly, she is survived by 6 great-grandchild­ren, Grant Bowen, Hannah Bowen, Wren Bowen, Charlie Bowen and Wiley Mccoy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022. The family will receive friends from 2-3 at Calvary Baptist Church, Rome, GA with the service to follow at 3PM. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Cemetery in Rome, GA.
