Festivities, fireworks are close at hand on the Fourth of July
There are plenty of Fourth of July celebrations in the area to visit on Monday before settling on a place to view a fireworks show.
Standing alone at 9 a.m. is the 38th annual Cave Spring July 4 Parade. You can watch it or be part of it.
Spectators will find the best spots downtown on the Square. All walking participants should gather at Cave Spring Outdoor Equipment, 23 Alabama St.
Participants on floats, wheeled vehicles or horses are asked to line up on Perry Farm Road starting at 8:15 a.m.
Following the parade, a wide variety of homemade ice cream will be sold for $2 a cup by Cave Spring United Methodist Church.
For afternoon and evening entertainment, there are activities scheduled in Rome, Summerville and Cartersville that all end in fireworks.
♦ Food vendors will be on site at noon for Rome’s 2022 Patriotic Party at Ridge Ferry Park, 363 Riverside Parkway.
Live music at the Cocacola Stage starts at 7 p.m. and the fireworks — more than 1,500 — are scheduled to be shot beginning around 9:50 p.m. from the top of Jackson Hill.
The event is free but it’s $5 to park. No large coolers, no pets, no drones, no sparklers and no fires.
♦ The July 4th Celebration at Dellinger Park, 100 Pine Grove Road in Cartersville, starts at 3 p.m. and runs through 10 p.m.
The event includes arts & crafts, children’s activities, live music starting at 5 p.m. and “the largest fireworks ever” launching about 9:30 p.m.
Admission is free, but it’s $10 to park.
♦ The Summerville Celebrate Independence Festival & Fireworks Show begins at 5 p.m. at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center, 33 Middle School Road.
The event features a free water slide, free sliced watermelon, sack races, a concert and a cornhole tournament. Fireworks start at 10 p.m.
Parking is free, but donations to the Chattooga County CERT team are appreciated.
♦ The Rome Braves game will also feature a post-game fireworks show. The game starts at 7 p.m. against the Asheville Tourists.
