HOLDEN, David Lee

Mr. David Lee Holden, age 74, of Lindale, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Holden was born in Rome, Georgia on January 11, 1948, son of the late William “Bill” Holden and the late Mary Jestine Kernes Holden. Preceding Mr. Holden in death, along with his parents, was a sister, Elizabeth O’Berry. Mr. Holden was an accomplish­ed automotive mechanic and worked for many years as a front-end tire alignment specialist. He loved traveling to the mountains in North Carolina, as well as visiting with his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. Mr. Holden also loved dogs and rescued many from almost certain death at various shelters and animal control centers over the years. He was also a member of New Life Church of God, 5RPH ,Q KLV ¿QDO ZHHNV of life, when he was in severe pain as his body began to fail him, Mr. Holden was given constant attention and ZDV VHOÀHVVO\ FDUHG IRU E\ his wife Fay and his daughter Mary. Survivors include his wife, Fay Dennington Treglown Holden, Lindale; two daughters, Mary Holden Lindsey (Johnny), Lindale, and Tess Holden Bachmeier (Harlan), Washington; a son, David Edgar Holden (Emily), Lindale; a stepdaught­er, Dawn Treglown, Lindale; three brothers, James Holden, Russell Holden (Kathy), and William “Bill” Holden (Gail); a sister, Mary Frances Goswick (Travis); six grandchild­ren including a special grandson, Greg Holden, with whom he had a close relationsh­ip, often working on cars together when Greg was much younger; and six great-grandchild­ren. Mr. Holden is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. In accordance with Mr. Holden’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, with no formal services scheduled at this time. The family requests that any donations be made to St. Jude &KLOGUHQ¶V +RVSLWDOV WR ¿JKW childhood cancers or to any cancer center of your choice. Leaf Cremation of Georgia, Acworth, is in charge of the arrangemen­ts for Mr. David Lee Holden.

KH PHW KLV ¿UVW ZLIH 'RQQD -DFNV /LQGVH\ *ULɤQ $IWHU attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mark returned to Rome to raise his three children whom he loved dearly, Andrew McDonald Lindsey (Susan), Sarah Louise Lindsey McCrea, and Todd Harper Lindsey (Jessica).

Mark’s personal and profession­al lives were as varied as his many travels. Profession­ally, Mark was an artist & photograph­er; a restaurant­er & entreprene­ur; a tradesman & technophil­e; and a teacher every step of the way. He was driven to help others whenever he could, and he loved nothing more than sharing the lessons of his own life with those he loved. In his spare time, you might have found Mark at the helm of his sailboat, swimming with his children in the ocean, listening to live music on a sunny hillside, cheering on his beloved Tar Heels, or happily toiling in his garden, however, Mark was never happier than when he was in the company of his grandchild­ren.

In addition to his wife and children, Mark is survived by his two brothers William Lindsey (Helen) and David Lindsey (Kimberly); his stepbrothe­r James Comerford (Camilla); his grandchild­ren Lindsey, Elise, & Caroline McCrea; Sabrina & Ophelia Lindsey; and Eva & Harper Lindsey. Mark is also survived by two stepchildr­en: Scott Howell (Julie) and Nannette Frye (Edward); and two step grandchild­ren: Madeleine and Harrison Howell.

Services were held in Bennettsvi­lle at the First Presbyteri­an Church at eleven o’clock on Saturday, July
