Thursday, June 30

Piedmont Avenue, RPD — A California man contacted Rome police about fraudulent activity on his Amazon account. He discovered someone had used his account to purchase an iPad 7 and ship it to Rome. The package was scheduled to be delivered on July 1. The caller requested Rome police intercept the package and arrest the person who ordered it. He was told Rome police would not intercept his package and was advised to have the package returned to sender. Government Plaza, RPD — Edgar Lopez reported his license plate had been lost in the mail. Officers noted the address on his drivers license and vehicle registrati­on did not match and was advised to contact DDS to fix it.

Friday, July 1

2419 Shorter Ave., Cash America Pawn, RPD — Maria Watson reported she discovered a ring that had gone missing from her home was found for sale at the pawn shop. She did not report the ring missing. She had purchased the ring from the same pawn shop and was able to provide documentat­ion. Cash America Pawn said the ring was sold to them for $900 on Sept. 17, 2021 and is holding the ring until they receive proper paperwork for its release.

1803 Martha Berry Highway, Economy Inn, RPD — Yedda Berry said she had gotten into a verbal altercatio­n with a Mr. Monroe and called him a derogatory name. She said the man ran at her, causing her to close herself in one of the hotel rooms. Berry said Monroe kicked the door in and pinned her against the wall. A witness said Berry used the derogatory name unprovoked and while Monroe did run at Berry, he did not kick down a door. Officers advised Berry to not use language that would provoke others. No charges were filed. 131 Dodd Boulevard, RPD — Deaundra Green reported a grill valued at $330 she kept outside of her apartment had been taken. She said she believed her neighbor took it. Officers contacted the apartment’s front desk who said they would check security cameras. North Blanche Avenue, RPD — Calvin Howerton reported someone took his debit card and withdrew $1100 from his bank account. 708 Shorter Ave., West Rome Food Mart, RPD — Officers responded to a burglary alarm and found one of the front windows of the business had been broken. Security footage showed a male throw a rock through the window and take a case of lottery tickets. He then fled on foot towards Yarbrough Street.

Saturday, July 2

1803 Martha Berry Blvd., Economy Inn, RPD — Montona Fisher stated Nigel Staples stole and damaged her phone.

1922 Shorter Ave., Family Dollar, RPD — Kevin Young reported his bicycle had been stolen from outside of the store. No value was listed. 1504 Turner McCall Blvd., McDonalds, RPD — Imogene Odom reported she lost her wallet in the parking. Restaurant management stated a man found the wallet and told them he was going to return it to the bank. Odom said she lives in Tennessee. Inside was $600 cash, a check book, several credit cards and Odom’s drivers license.
