RUSH, Geraldine Johnston

Mrs. Geraldine Johnston Rush, age 92, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Rush was born in Floyd County, GA, on June 7, 1930, daughter of the late Fred Johnston and the late Azzie Lee Barnes Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Meddie Rush, by her brother, Raymond Johnston, and by 3 sisters, Frances Johnston, Mildred Youngblood and Margaret Eddy. Mrs. Rush was a graduate of Rome Girls High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Piggly Wiggly for over 40 years where she worked her way up from the Deli/bakery WR EHFRPLQJ 2ɤFH Pdqager. Mrs. Rush loved her family dearly and would host Sunday lunches twice a month where her family was blessed with a feast and would end up having more leftovers than what they ate. She was a master coconut cake baker and would bake her family desserts for birthdays and holidays alike. Mrs. Rush was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Steve Rush (Janis), Armuchee, and Dennis Rush (Nancy), Centre, AL; 3 grandchildren, Steve Lindsey Rush II (Mandie), Dennis Blaine Rush (Sherry), and Janna Rush Goble (Jamey); her sister, Sarah Duke; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her faithful K-9 companion, Cuddles; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with WKH 5HY 0DUN (YDQV Rɤflating. Interment will follow in Connesena Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston, GA.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1pm until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, and include: Brett Rush, Lind Rush, Blaine Rush, Dennis Rush, Jamey Goble, Chris Stewart and Josh Wilkes.
