Shots fired in South Broad store robbery attempt

Police are investigat­ing a Saturday incident on South Broad Street where shots were fired during an attempted robbery.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

The store clerk at the Hitech at 410 S. Broad St. was working at 8:40 p.m. when a man jumped over the counter demanding money from the register.

Brandishin­g a silver pistol, the man approached the register. As the man dropped a cellphone, the clerk grabbed a pistol from beneath the counter, aimed it at the man and pulled the trigger, but the safety was engaged.

The man then retreated over the counter, firing three or four bullets from his weapon as he stumbled out of the store. No one was struck by the wild rounds.

Rome police checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect, described as a Black male wearing a black mask, red hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers.

REPORT: COUPLE LOCKED 4-YEAR-OLD OUTSIDE

A Silver Creek couple is charged with felony first-degree cruelty to children after allegedly locking a 4-year-old child outside as they slept, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Tristan Drake Bright, 21, and Angelica Katherine Brown, 23, were asleep

inside the residence on Old Rockmart Road in Silver Creek on Aug. 5 after locking a 4-year-old child outside without access to food, water or shelter.

Bright is also accused of felony false imprisonme­nt for confining the child to a bedroom and not allowing the door to be opened as well as misdemeano­r obstructio­n of an officer.

MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED STALKING

A Rome man was arrested Sunday on felony charges of terroristi­c threats and aggravated stalking after an incident on Cave Spring Road.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jessie Lee Dozier, 37, is charged with criminal trespass, aggravated stalking and terroristi­c threats, all under the Family Violence Act.

Dozier violated a conditiona­l bond when he traveled to the residence on Cave Spring Road. Once there, he struck the bathroom door, causing damage, as well as used abusive language and threatened, on video, to kill the victim’s mother.

REPORT: WOMAN WOULD NOT LEAVE KFC

A Rome woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after refusing to leave the KFC on Turner Mccall and then threatenin­g to kick a police officer, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Patsy Jane Thomas, 79, of Rome was arrested at the fast food restaurant after refusing to leave despite being asked several times. Shen then refused to provide any identifica­tion and threatened officers while she was being placed in handcuffs.

Thomas is charged with felony terroristi­c threats and acts as well as misdemeano­r criminal trespass and obstructio­n.

ATLANTA MAN ACCUSED OF KNIFE THREAT

A 47-year-old Atlanta man was arrested Sunday afternoon, accused of threatenin­g another person with a knife and then exposing himself at Heritage Park, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Bobby D. Gray is charged with felony terroristi­c threats and acts and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony as well as misdemeano­r public indecency and obstructio­n.
