Report: Man caught in mother’s home, charged with robbing Big H

A Rome man was arrested Monday on multiple felony charges, including an attempted armed robbery of the Big H gas station on East 12th Street in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Lamar Cantrell Hunter, 46, is charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault during a robbery of the Big H on July 28 at 1:38 p.m.

He fled the store and remained at-large until Rome police found him at his mother’s residence on Myrtle Street. Multiple officers arrived at the home, and after speaking to Hunter’s mother, were allowed to search the residence. Hunter was discovered in a back bedroom, hiding under a pile of clothing.

He remained in jail on Tuesday without bond, awaiting a hearing in Floyd County Superior Court.

ROME MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE

A Rome man was charged with rape on Monday for an incident that occurred at a home on Billy Pyle Road on June 16, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Henry Ronald Davidson IV, 18, is charged with raping a woman while she was intoxicate­d and unable to consent. He remained in jail on Tuesday without bond pending a hearing in Floyd County Superior Court.

WEST ROME MAN CHARGED WITH CRUELTY TO CHILDREN

A West Rome man was arrested on a first-degree cruelty to children charge at a home off Dearbrook Drive on Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Shawn Edward Glancy, 55, is accused of using abusive language and “causing a child under 18 cruel and excessive mental pain.” He remained in jail Tuesday afternoon on $11,200 bond.

2 CHARGED WITH METH POSSESSION AT RACEWAY

Two men were arrested on meth possession charges at a Raceway gas station on Shorter Avenue

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Joseph Patrick Hale, 50, and Danny Ray Brown, 50, were arrested at a Raceway gas station on Monday at 1:30p.m. after police discovered a pipe containing meth residue in their possession.

Hale remained in jail without bond Tuesday pending a court hearing and Brown was in jail with a $5,700 bond set.
