DROUGHT, Gale Norman

Mr. Gale Norman Drought, AKA “Mr. Builders Salvage”, “Old Man”, “Galebino” and most importantl­y Dad, Grandpa and “My Gale”, age 88 of Rome passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 1:18am at his residence in the presence of loved ones.

Mr. Drought was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on May 12, 1934, the youngest child of the late Roxall and Evelyn “Evie” Drought. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Patricia “Rosie” Drought, by his oldest son, Craig Norman Drought, by a great granddaugh­ter, Tanner Rose Harper-wade, by his big brother, Marvin Blaine Drought, and by his brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Minnick.

Mr. Drought truly had a IXO¿OOHG OLIH RI VXFFHVVIXO Dfcomplish­ments in business owning taverns and lounges. In 1975, Mr. & Mrs. Drought bought the A&W in Rockford, IL which became a landmark of Rockford. During Winter months the family would travel to Key Largo until he ¿QDOO\ UHWLUHG DQG PRYHG WKH family there in the 1980’s when he built his dream home on the water. He later moved to Rome, Georgia where he and his wife created, developed, owned, and operated Builders Salvage.

Survivors include 5 children, Chris Drought, Connie Johnson (Dan), Kevin Drought, Cheri Wade (Michael), and Shelley Johnson (Anthony); 8 grandchild­ren; 8 great grandchild­ren; a sister, Shirley Minnick; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with a graveside service following at East View Cemetery. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Drought will be cremated following the service.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 1pm until the service time.
