Lindale man charged with vehicular homicide

A Lindale man was charged with vehicular homicide following a wreck that killed his female passenger.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

James Kevin Mcdonald, 45, turned himself in to face charges for the May 1 incident. Mcdonald was also charged with motor vehicle theft, as the truck involved in the wreck was a work truck that he did not have permission to use on that night.

He was released on bond Thursday.

ROME MAN ACCUSED OF CRUELTY TO DOG

A Rome man was charged with cruelty to animals, a dog, at a home on Denton Drive on June 12.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Franklin Tyrone Darby, 41, left a dog tied up in his yard during extreme heat, without food, water or shelter, for several hours.

Once the dog was found to be unwell, Darby “mowed around his dog, moving it with his foot and covering it with grass clippings.” The dog was left in the yard the remainder of the day until Animal Control arrived to remove the body for a necropsy. It was later determined the dog died of heat stroke.

Darby turned himself in and remained in jail Thursday on a bond of $10,000.

REPORT: MAN ATTACKED POLICE OFFICERS

A Rome man was charged with public drunkennes­s and two felony counts of obstructio­n of an officer during an incident at a home on Jessie Head Drive in northeast Rome.

According to Floyd County Police records:

Gregory Lee Griffies, 60, was arrested after he threatened a woman and struck two officers.

He’s also charged with two counts of simple battery against an officer, making terroristi­c threats, misdemeano­r obstructio­n and disorderly conduct.

He was being held without bond Thursday on a probation violation.

2 CHARGED WITH METH POSSESSION

A South Rome man and woman were charged with possession of meth at a house on Worsham Street in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Angela Faith Fuller, 47, and Kevin Wayne Eddy, 45, were arrested at 28 Worsham St. in South Rome and charged with possession of meth and other drug parapherna­lia during the execution of a search warrant. Fuller remained in jail on a $7,900 bond Thursday while Eddy was being held without bond.

SILVER CREEK MAN FACING DRUG CHARGES AFTER SHORTER AVE. CRASH

A Silver Creek man is facing drug charges after he reportedly hit several cars while driving down Shorter Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Johnathan David Williams, 41, of Silver Creek was given Narcan twice by police before they took him into custody.

He is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, DUI drugs, possession of drugs not in the original container, failing to maintain lane and operating an unregister­ed vehicle.

Williams remained in jail on $10,200 bond Thursday.

ARAGON DRIVER CHARGED WITH 5 COUNTS OF DRUG POSSESSION

An Aragon woman was charged with five counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics and a slew of other violations following a wreck on Bailey Road at Abrams Road at 6:58 p.m. on Wednesday night.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Mary Catherine Nails, 60, of Aragon was traveling too fast, crossed the fog lane and crashed her vehicle. She also is charged with DUI drugs, tampering with evidence and bringing contraband into the jail.

She was being held on $10,100 bond as of Thursday.
