Floyd man charged with meth, card fraud

A Lindale man is charged with possession of meth after an incident Thursday night on Turner McCall Boulevard.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Nickolas Kyle Townsend, 32, is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects and financial transactio­n card fraud after he was also found with 14 stolen credit or debit cards, reports state.

He is being held without bond.

EAST ROME MAN CHARGED WITH METH, DRUG-RELATED OBJECTS

Rome police were called to a report of a fight in the woods behind a residence on East 19th Street Thursday morning and arrested a man after he attempted to dispose of a meth pipe, reports state.

According to Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail reports:

When police arrived, they encountere­d three men in the woods among tents, trash and debris. Desmond Lee Whipple, 39, pretended to wave to a neighbor as officers saw him throw a glass pipe behind a tree. Whipple was also found to have a bag containing meth in the coin pocket of his pants.

Whipple is charged with felony possession of meth and misdemeano­r drug-related objects. He is being held on $20,000 bail as of Friday morning.

REPORT: POLICE INVESTIGAT­E DUI COMPLAINT, FIND CHILD IN VEHICLE

Rome police were called to a report of a juvenile stating her mother was drunk in front of TJ Maxx on Turner McCall Boulevard on Thursday afternoon, reports state.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

When police arrived the woman was visibly disoriente­d, handing officers a credit card when asked for her driver’s license. She then dropped her keys and contents of her wallet in the car, before handing over her license.

Police spoke with the driver’s 8-year-old daughter who stated, “mommy had been drinking brown stuff at home before they went shopping, and that she was scared.” Police recovered 12 empty shot-sized liquor bottles hanging from the stick shift in a plastic bag, with an additional 13th empty shot bottle located in the center console. Seven full shot-sized bottles were located on the passenger front seat.

The driver was taken to the hospital and registered a 0.134% on a blood alcohol test; 0.08% BAC is the limit nationwide.
