BURKHALTER, Edna Paulette

Edna “Paulette” Burkhalter, age 70, of Canton, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2023 after being in declining health for the past several years.

Paulette was born in Rome, GA on April 3, 1952, to the late Paul Allen Burkhalter and Mary Edna Rooks Burkhalter. Her grandparents were Charles Presley Burkhalter, Selena Washington Burkhalter, Dewey (Bud) Rooks and Louise Roberson Rooks. She was also preceded in death E\ D EURWKHU -HƔUH\ :D\QH Burkhalter.

Paulette graduated with honors from Pepperell High School in Lindale, GA in the class of 1970. She also graduated with bachelor and graduate degrees in education from Berry College. Paulette’s passion was in WKH PHQWDO KHDOWK ¿HOG 6KH worked several years at Highland Rivers CSB and was last employed as the Mental Health Coordinator at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. She received many accolades for her service during her career.

She loved to travel, and she saw many parts of the world. She had a very outgoing personality and had a good time wherever she went. Her laugh was contagious and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a brother Gary Burkhalter (Gail) Silver Creek, GA. She is also survived by nieces Sara Burkhalter of Rome, GA, Angela Worsham (Michael) Valdosta, GA, Amanda Mills (Kyle) of Dallas, GA, and Emily Claytor (Matt) of Rome, GA. Her great nieces and nephews Kaylee and Kaden Worsham, Grace Ann and Kate Claytor and Luke and Elijah Mills. She is also survived by a very special friend Dr. Cathy Williams. Since Paulette was part of a large family, she is also survived by many family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Canton First United Methodist Church. 'U .HQQ\ 2WW ZLOO Rɤflate. Dr. Cathy Williams and Karen Yarbrough Eskridge will provide eulogies. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
