- GARRETT, Rebecca Bullock

Rebecca Bullock Garrett, age 77, passed away at her home on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2023, after a brief illness. She was secure in her faith and has found her eternal home in Heaven.

Rebecca was born in Lexington, Kentucky on May 12, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Robert Wilmore Garrett and Betty Francis Masters Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Moye (David), and 3 grandchild­ren, Lauren Moye, Charles (Stone) Moye, and Carl (Palmer) Moye.

During her adolescenc­e, Rebecca lived with her family in Florida, Texas, and New Mexico before eventually settling in Raleigh, North Carolina. After attending art school, she worked as a graphic artist and moved to Rome, Georgia.

A local entreprene­ur and small business owner for over 40 years, Rebecca was beloved by her family, friends, and community. She independen­tly ran Rebecca’s Embroidery. Rebecca cherished her customers and always endeavored to serve them with quality and kindness.

From quilting and racing cars to traveling and painting with her grandchild­ren, Rebecca was a skilled artist with a sharp, creative mind and sense of humor. She enjoyed exploring and sharing new concepts, mechanics, and things of beauty. She always encouraged curiosity in herself and others.

Rebecca lived an active and adventurou­s lifestyle. She loved the great outdoors and could often be found in KHU EDFN\DUG EHVLGH D ¿UH SLW with her rescue pups.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as Mom, Nana, and friend.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, at 2 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2023. A Celebratio­n of Life will follow at 3 PM.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts. ents were Wade and Maudie Boone Carmichael. She lived in Carroll County from 1932 until 1936, when her family moved to Rome, Georgia. She attended Tubize School and was a graduate of Rome Girls High School and Carroll Lynn Business School.

She was employed by the Rome News Tribune as an Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper for six years. She married Ernest E. Hall on November 16, 1946. She resigned her position in 1949 in order to become a mother and a full time housewife. She was active in PTA and was helpful as a grade mother when her children were in elementary school. She was a good seamstress making most of her twin daughters’ matching clothes.

She returned to work in 1969 at The Department of Family and Children Services to help her husband with the educationa­l expenses of their four children. She resigned this position in 1979. She had been a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Garden Lakes Baptist Church, while living in Rome. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Cave Spring in 1967 when the family moved to the Cave Spring area. She served for many years as a teacher in the Nursery and Pre-school Sunday School Department.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the William Witcher Chapter of Cedartown, Georgia. She was member of the Northwest Georgia Historical and Genealogy Society, The Georgia Rural Letter Carriers Associatio­n and the National Associatio­n of Federal Retirees. She and her husband had been members DQG RɤFHUV RI WKH 5RPDQ Squares Square Dance Club DQG IRXQGHUV DQG RɤFHUV RI The Springers Dance Club of Cave Spring.

Olive was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Maudie Carmichael, husband Ernest Hall, brother Cecil Carmichael and her sister Kathryn Carmichael Hall.

Surviving are sons Martin Hall (Melissa), Michael Hall (Kim); daughters Jeanette Sanders (Mark), Annette Montgomery (Rich), all of Cave Spring, Georgia. Grandchild­ren Amy Chapman (Mitchell), Laura Reed (Chase), Eli Montgomery (Nicole), Ches Montgomery (Carolina), Andy Montgomery (Taryn); Step grandchild­ren Holly Gill, Jeremy Sanders (Jessica), Jenny Hagley -Hɣ DQG (ULF 'HFNHU (Amy). Great grandchild­ren Kacie Rosser, Sydney Fuller, Bruce Anderson, Breckin Reed, Zoe Montgomery, Ada Montgomery and Cora Montgomery. Step grandchild­ren Marley White, Kallee Sanders, Karly Sanders, Dayton Sanders, Eleanor Hagley, Owen Hagley, Alyssa Decker, Cayden Decker. Special nieces Susan Childers (Fred), Jane Hall (Keith Lazelle), Amanda Smith (Billy), special nephew Wade Childers (Alison) and special great niece Alex. Great great grandchild­ren Ace Anderson, Preslie Rosser, Gracen Fuller and step great grandchild Haylee Rosser. The family requests that in lieu of ÀRZHUV GRQDWLRQV PD\ EH made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Cave Spring on February 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm. away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Mr. Madden was born July 11, 1943, the only child of the late Solomon C. and Geraldine Madden.

Britt lived with his parents initially in downtown Cedartown, eventually moving to the family farm on Cave Spring Road in the 1960s. He was both baptized and latHU FRQ¿UPHG DW WKH DJH RI at Cedartown First United Methodist Church. Britt was a Cedartown High School graduate of the Class of 1961. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Georgia and obtained his Bachelor of Business Administra­tion degree in 1965. Subsequent­ly, Britt earned his Master of Accountanc­y degree in 1967. Later that year, he passed WKH &3$ H[DP RQ WKH ¿UVW WU\ while achieving the highest score in the auditing section in the state. 1967 was also the year that Britt met his wife, Brenda Butler, and within three short months, they were married. In 1971, they welcomed a son, Britt Brown Madden, Jr.

In late 1969, Britt came back to Cedartown DQG RSHQHG DQ RɤFH RI KLV own. There he performed basic accounting and tax duties while teaching classes at Jacksonvil­le State University at night. Britt obtained many accolades profession­ally in his career and always approached his practice in a way of never looking at clients as anything but friends. For 29 years, Britt practiced accounting with his son, Britt, Jr., and he treasured his time sitting across from his beloved son doing what he felt he was born to do. While Britt had attained many profession­al and personal achievemen­ts, no greater pride did he show than in his granddaugh­ters, Anna (5) and Lily (3).

Britt and Brenda navigated life with all of its ups and downs together for 52 years. All the while, they continuall­y strengthen­ed their relationsh­ip and grew in their faith by being active members at Cedartown First United Methodist Church. The Maddens were faithIXO PHPEHUV DQG D ¿[WXUH on the back left pew of the church. Nothing made Britt happier than seeing a fourth generation of Maddens (his granddaugh­ters) sit inside the church he loved in that very same pew. Britt’s only church membership was at Cedartown First.

Mr. Madden was preceded in death by his father, Solomon C. Madden; mother, Geraldine Madden, and wife Brenda Madden (2019). Surviving are his son, Britt Brown Madden Jr., daughter-in-law, Aimee Madden, and granddaugh­ters, Anna and Lily Bea. Several cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held from noon until the funeral hour in the parlour room of Cedartown First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery. 2ɤFLDQWV ZLOO EH WKH 5HY 'U Robin L. Lindsey and Rev. Michael Broome.

The following will serve as pallbearer­s: Chad Chandler, Jonathan Thomas, Carver Bussey, Peyton Moore, Brooks Moore, Alex Orebaugh, Luke Orebaugh, and Will Hulsey. Honorary pallbearer­s will include, “The Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group”: Dr. Harry Dawson, Rick Ferrin, Greg Wilder, Glenn Peppers, and Elliot Gammage.
