Report: Woman shot late Wednesday on Calhoun Ave.

A woman was shot on Calhoun Avenue Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Stop and Go Food Mart, reports state.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

The woman was shot in both legs and was laying on the ground in the parking lot. Witnesses say the victim was arguing with someone in the store, and the victim had been beaten up. The argument continued into the parking lot when an unidentifi­ed male walked toward a vehicle, and the victim threw something at the vehicle. A shot rang out.

Police found a pistol in the roadway after the incident, and the manager of the store stated they will provide surveillan­ce video.

ROME COMPANY DEFRAUDED OF OVER $16,000

A Rome company was defrauded of $16,000 when a company they were contracted with in Texas was hacked and sent out false wire transfer number to pay an outstandin­g invoice of $16,495, reports state.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

The Hellier Group LLC, owned by a Rome man and his wife, received an email from a company they contracted in Texas to pay an outstandin­g invoice via wire transfer. The Texas company Advanced Inspection Technologi­es was hacked, and the email they sent contained false routing informatio­n.

ROME MAN FACING ADDITIONAL CHARGES

A Rome man arrested Feb. 16 for elder exploitati­on and felony burglary is facing additional charges for additional home and automobile burglaries, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Joshua Ray Bannister, 36, is facing additional charges of felony burglary and entering automobile­s, as well as felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony theft by receiving. He is also charged with misdemeano­r trespass. He continues to be held without bond.

NORTH ROME MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, DRUGS

A North Rome man was arrested Thursday for an incident on Feb. 1 on Turner McCall after police reported a smell of marijuana and found him in possession of an oxycodone pill and a silver pistol, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Roderick Ronnell Monroe, 54, is charged with felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a Schedule II substance and misdemeano­r possession of marijuana. He is being held on $5,000 bond as of Friday afternoon.

SILVER CREEK MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY EXPLICIT ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSI­ONS

A Silver Creek man was arrested Thursday evening on Grove Avenue in Lindale for posting a nude picture of the victim without permission on social media, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

James Kenneth Owens Jr., 42, is charged with felony transmissi­on of sexually explicit image and misdemeano­r harassing communicat­ions. He is being held without bond.

NEW JERSEY WOMAN CHARGED WITH IDENTITY FRAUD

A New Jersey woman was arrested on Broad Street Thursday evening for trying to purchase a phone from Verizon using a false identity, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Rebecca Leaikira Powell, 34, is charged with felony identity and financial card transactio­n fraud and misdemeano­r giving false name and date of birth. She is being held on $10,000 bond as of Friday afternoon.
