Rome brothers are arrested on possession with intent charges

The Rome-floyd Metro Task Force arrested a pair of local men Tuesday afternoon on felony drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Clarence Cornelius Neal Jr., 26; and Devion Tremaine Neal, 28; are both charged with felony possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The men are brothers.

Devion Neal is further charged with felony possession of a stolen gun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. He is also charged with misdemeano­r driving with a suspended license and expired tag.

Both were being held without bond Wednesday.

POLICE: ROME WOMAN STOLE CAR, PISTOL

A Rome woman was arrested Tuesday morning on Old Black Bluffs Road and accused of stealing a 2014 Honda Accord on Dec. 15 and a Smith & Wesson pistol, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Brandi Nicole Ayers, 49, is charged with felony auto theft and felony theft by taking. She was being held on $7,000 bond as of Wednesday.

ROME MAN FACING MORE CHARGES

A Rome man who was first arrested Feb. 16 on elder exploitati­on and felony burglary charges is facing even more charges, reports state:

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Joshua Ray Bannister, 36, had more charges added March 3 and, on Wednesday, the list grew again. He now faces charges of felony theft, burglary and criminal damage to property at a home on Agnes Street where he stole a four-wheeler, damaging the ignition and causing over $1,000 in damage to the vehicle.

Bannister remain in jail without bond Wednesday.

ROME MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED STALKING

A Rome man was arrested Tuesday night on Tamassee Lane on charges that he violated a conditiona­l bond by entering the residence of a woman he was court-ordered to not contact, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Daniel Scott Beavers, 35, is charged with aggravated stalking, misdemeano­r giving a false name to law enforcemen­t officers and obstructio­n. He was being held without bond Wednesday.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

A Rome man was arrested early Wednesday morning for felony possession of a Schedule I narcotic during a traffic stop on Ga. 20, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Levi Thomas Scherer, 41, was seen throwing syringes out of the car window and is also charged with tampering with evidence. He was being held without bond Wednesday.

CALHOUN WOMAN FACING METH, MARIJUANA CHARGES

A Calhoun woman was arrested early Wednesday morning on U.S. 411 near Chulio Road after police found several pills and marijuana in her car, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jena Baigh Hopper, 34, is

charged with felony possession of meth and possession of Schedule IV drugs as well as misdemeano­r possession of marijuana. She remained in jail on $7,900 bond as of Wednesday.

ROME MAN ARRESTED AFTER 100 MPH CAR CHASE

A Rome man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after attempting to flee a traffic stop by speeding on Ga. 20 up to 107 mph and weaving through traffic, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Michael Damien Mcburnett, 23, is charged with felony fleeing and misdemeano­r speeding, reckless driving, passing on shoulder and failure to maintain lane. He remained in jail on $10,000 bond as of Wednesday.

REPORT: WOMAN BROUGHT METH TO PROBATION TEST

A Silver Creek woman was arrested at the probation office Wednesday morning when she showed up with a small amount of methamphet­amine, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Sarah Ashley Sargent, 20, is charged with possession of meth and probation violation. She was being held without bond Wednesday.
