Maribeth Futral selected to represent RCS on state Parent Advisory Council
Maribeth Futral, parent and advocate for education, has been appointed to the State School Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council for her second term.
This appointment by State School Superintendent Richard Woods highlights Futral’s commitment to education and her contributions to the community.
The Parent Advisory Council, comprising 28 parents from various regions of Georgia, convenes regularly to collaborate with Woods on crucial education matters throughout the year. This group plays a pivotal role in advancing the cause of parental and family engagement, fostering student achievement, and ensuring a robust educational experience for all Georgia students.
“Parents are an irreplaceable part of our education system,” Woods said. “It’s critical that I receive their direct feedback on state policies and decisions. Year after year, the Parent Advisory Council is an invaluable resource for me. I congratulate the new members and look forward to working with them in the year ahead.”
Futral’s role on council will involve providing valuable input on new policies, projects, and materials that directly affect students and their families in Rome and across Georgia. Serving as a trusted advisor, Maribeth will participate in multiple meetings with Woods over the course of her second term.
In addition to her advisory role, Futral will serve as an ambassador and disseminate the knowledge and insights gained from the Parent Advisory Council to the Rome City Schools community. This ensures that the collective wisdom and ideas generated from this partnership are effectively communicated and utilized in local educational contexts.
The first meeting of the State School Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, which Futral is set to attend, will convene in October, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey to shape the future of education in Georgia.
