The Floyd County Board of Elections reported that a recent risk limiting audit of the March 12 Presidential Preference Primary returned a 100% accurate count.

Floyd County Elections Supervisor Akyn Beck said that office workers hand audited the approximately 9,000 ballots cast in Floyd County this past week. All 159 Georgia counties conducted a post-election audit of ballots cast in the primary.

“The Floyd County Board of Elections promotes transparency and strives for timely and accurate election results,” Beck said. “Our audit proves how seriously we take these goals.”

There were six audit teams made up of poll workers who were not allowed to audit the voting precinct in which they worked.

“Every voted ballot was audited to insure that the audited result matched the reported result,” Beck said. “And they did, 100%.” Statewide, Donald Trump won for the Republican Party with 84.49% of the vote, a total of 497,421 votes. Nikki Haley received 13.23% of the vote with 77,899 total voters.

Joe Biden won for the Democratic Party, receiving 95.1% for a total of 276,046, according to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Floyd’s turnout was 15.1% or 8,972 of the county’s 59,423 eligible voters. That beat the state results. Some 847,364 of Georgia’s nearly 7 million eligible voters, or 12.1%, took part in the primary. Raffensperger earlier stated that he expected a turnout of 10%.

Last week’s audit was the third Beck has supervised, she said. Others took place in 2022 and 2023.

The Floyd County elections office was recognized by the Georgia Secretary of State for being the first of 159 counties to publish initial Presidential Preference Primary results.
